General Summary:

The Account Manager is responsible for managing and retaining existing business and developing a distribution network of brokers and consultants. This role will interact primarily with Human Resource Executives as well as Brokers and Consultants on high-level issues affecting their clients. Developing long-term effective relationships with customers and following through with commitments are essential functions. This role will also provide support for the sales and marketing team.

 

 

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for account management of key customers to include service issues, relationship management, client meetings, and promotion of programs and their value
  • Retention of existing business and upselling of other products

  • Coordinate the implementation of new business

  • Develop and maintain productive relationships with broker and consultant networks

  • Develop marketing and sales strategies to enhance sales and marketing processes within assigned territory

  • Recommendations to improve performance of client health plans
  • Ensures client deliverables are accurate, timely, and meet or exceed client expectations
  • Track all client inquiries through to complete resolution, ensuring ownership, timeliness and proper escalation
  • Assist in maintaining and developing processes to improve efficiency and effectiveness of sales and marketing strategies

  • Works with account management team to develop materials for client presentations and participate in the proposal development process as needed
  • Attends meetings, health fairs, special events, etc. as needed
  • Maintaining a solid understanding of current market dynamics and healthcare trends

Requirements

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

  • Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills both written and verbal.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with internal departments and external clients.
  • Issue resolution and relationship building skills.
  • Ability to assess situations, anticipate needs and create customer-specific solutions.
  • Self-motivated and highly professional demeanor.
  • Strong team player, ethics and willingness to help others.
  • Healthcare experience preferred withknowledge of claims, eligibility, check processing and flexible spending.

 

  • Medical/Dental terminology knowledge.
  • Experience in business development/lead generation/sales support role preferred

 

Credentials and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred
  • 5 + years in account management role or Human Resources Management
  • State issued Life, Accident and Health License or willingness/ability to obtain
