Job Details

Operates as the subject matter expert and escalation point to resolve payroll issues.

Employs advanced level accounting skills in the analysis and preparation of reports.

Reviews and reconciles general ledger entries to ensure accurate firm financial statements.

Ensures that all information affecting the payroll is accurately communicated to the payroll vendor.

Leads payroll system upgrades and supports patch testing and other technical projects as assigned.
Supervises the work of payroll staff. Trains team members on new or enhanced operation policies and procedures.

Designs controls around all tasks necessary to accomplish the organization’s payroll processing and retirement plan accounting objectives.

Designs and provides oversight to payroll and employee benefit account reconciliations.

Researches and advises the payroll staff concerning the accounting treatment of transactions.

May perform periodic internal audits of various payroll areas, and prepare materials for external auditors.

Responsible for payroll tax activities, including compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.

Ensures procedures are in compliance with 401(k) and defined contribution plan specifications.

Reconciles employee deductions and resolves discrepancies.


Bachelor’s degree (B. S.) from a four-year college or university in Accounting; and minimum of 7 years’ experience, in either assurance or tax, with exposure to payroll and employee benefit accounting processes and procedures.
