Administrative Specialist I/Benefits

Administrative Specialist I Hiring Rate: $17.94/Hourly
The primary assignment for this position is to provide a variety of administrative support tasks for the City's benefit programs, which include medical, prescription, dental, vision, life insurance, flexible spending accounts and health savings accounts, retirement plans, supplemental insurance and a robust wellness program, and to process requests for leave (IE: FMLA, Short-Term Disability, Industrial Injury Leave, etc.). The ideal candidate will possess strong interpersonal skills and be able to communicate with all levels throughout the organization and third-party vendors. The ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously, meet deadlines, and maintain strict confidentiality are all attributes that are necessary to succeed in this position. Experience with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, Publisher and Word) is required. Prior experience with benefit programs and leave administration is highly desired.
Testing will be conducted for this position on Wednesday, March 29, 2017 and will consist of Basic Microsoft Excel (2010) and Basic Microsoft Word (2010). Qualified candidates will receive separate testing notification via email and must be available on the date/time scheduled; no make-up tests will be given.
Education & Experience:
High School Diploma or General Education Development (G.E.D.) and three (3) years of experience in area of assignment; or an equivalent combination of education and experience to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed below.
