Skidmore College invites applications for the position of Assistant Director for Employee Relations, Training & Development in Human Resources. This position provides management and administrative support for: employee relations (including performance improvement plan assessment and termination decisions); the college performance review program; extensive training and professional development programs for employees; employee outreach and recognition; coaching and developing new leaders; events and orientations; the college job evaluation process; and specialized projects and policy development.

 

Qualified candidates will possess a bachelor’s degree or equivalent, plus 5-8 years of progressively responsible Human Resources experience. Demonstrated experience with employee relations is required. Experience in training and development and work experience in higher education HR management is preferred. This position requires broad human resources expertise, research and analytical skills and a proven ability to integrate information. Knowledge of employment laws and regulations essential. Must possess strong organizational skills and the ability to work in a highly confidential professional manner with HR colleagues, faculty, staff and others outside the college. Excellent communication skills are critical. Influencing skills and conflict resolution skills are necessary. Working knowledge of Microsoft Office suite is required. Must be proven team player.
