Elon University’s Student Professional Development Center is currently accepting applications for an Assistant Director of Corporate and Employer Relations for the School of Communications.  The Student Professional Development Center (SPDC) seeks a dynamic and imaginative team member to assist in the efforts to enhance and deepen Corporate and Employer Relations for the School of Communications at Elon University. 

Elon is a private university of 6,000 undergraduate students and almost 800 graduate students in the heart of North Carolina. Newsweek recently named Elon the nation’s leading college for engaged learning and the #1 school to watch. 

With more than 1,200 of majors in journalism, strategic communications, cinema & television arts, media analytics, communication design and sport management, Elon seeks a professional who can strategically enhance professional development of the School of Communications student and build relationships with employers and employment opportunities that are well matched to the student’s assets. The SPDC understands the importance of strategically implementing a plan that professionally launches students into the careers they desire and deserve.

The Assistant Director will identify and manage external relationships, traveling and calling on organizations to identify internship and full-time job opportunities for Elon students. The Assistant Director will also help lead the development of media materials that showcase the SPDC to employers. This includes social media, web-based, and print. The Assistant Director will also help lead employment and recruiting events on campus in support of professional development for Elon students.

A bachelor’s degree is required; a master’s level degree is strongly preferred. Knowledge of higher education and/or the field of communications is highly desirable.  Two or more years of related experience in relationship management, such as sales, marketing or recruiting, or in the field of communications.

Qualified candidates should demonstrate the proven ability to lead in a highly collaborative environment, possess excellent organizational and communication skills, and be self-motivated and self-directed. Qualified candidates will have a working knowledge of database systems and an interest in social networking platforms.
