Work Hours:            Monday through Friday; 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Occasional evenings, nights and/or weekends may be required; rarely would require holidays.

 

Beginning Salary:   $56,692.27 Annual Salary, FLSA Exempt Position

 

 

 

POSITION SUMMARY:The Assistant Director is responsible for the supervision and management of employees and performs a variety of Human Resources duties as directed. This may fill in as the acting director in the absence of the Human Resources Director. This position requires Human Resources experience, initiative and independent judgment, teamwork, and works under limited supervision.  This position reports to the Human Resources Director.

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:  Graduation from a regionally accredited college or university with a degree in Human Resources or closely related field is required. Three to five years of progressively responsible Human Resources experience is desired. Five to seven years of Human Resources experience may be substituted for the degree requirements.  Two years of management or supervisory experience required, preferably in a Public Sector environment. HRCI, SHRM or IPMA-HR certification preferred. Must possess and maintain a valid Motor Vehicle Operator’s license with the ability to be insured under the City of Branson’s insurance coverage when driving a city-owned vehicle.  Must possess no felony convictions and be able to pass a pre-employment background investigation. 

 

 

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:  Includes the following: Assists in managing the daily operations of the department.  Manages the integrity of all HR data including, but not limited, to new hire information, data changes, transfers and separations.  Participates in hiring, training, promotion and distribution of duties and assignments within the department. Manages the employee benefits program including health, dental, life, vision, retirement, and supplemental insurance plans; serves as administrator for the City’s insurance plans.  Assists with the development and maintenance of strategic, fiscal and service improvement plans for the department.  Assists with the maintenance of the City's classification and compensation plans and provides remedies.  Assists with the preparation and presentation of various employee training programs and activities, including employee development, management training and new employee orientation.  Manages the City’s Tuition Reimbursement Program.  Provides guidance, coaching, consultation, information, and assistance to department directors, supervisors, and employees regarding human resources policies, procedures practices, and programs; makes independent decisions to resolve operational or interpersonal conflicts with the public or employees.  Other duties as assigned.
