Job Details

Responsible for leading the Human Resources talent management and development function. Partner with the AVP on the development and implementation of strategies and opportunities for workforce planning initiatives. Oversee the labor and employee relations function and provide advice and counsel to employees and management on conflict resolution and planning for a more productive path forward. Oversee two components of Wellesley’s Whole You initiative for employee wellness: employee engagement and employee development and recognition. Oversee the recruitment and retention of a diverse workforce by attracting and developing talent. Responsible for leading the coordination and execution of leadership training programs for staff.

1. Collaborate with department heads to understand objectives and analyze talent need for workforce effectiveness. Recommend improvements with regards to talent acquisition, development and engagement. Support organizational design efforts and reorganization.

2. Develop and implement a multi-year strategy that builds existing talent and attracts a diverse workforce to Wellesley College.

3. Oversee labor and employee relations function. Enhance appropriate work relationships, ensuring fairness for all employees. This work is highly specialized, complex and sensitive. Manage ongoing contract compliance within the parameters established to ensure fair and consistent application. Participates in union negotiations

4. Assess current learning and development programs and develop and implement creative and innovative training solutions, using a variety of techniques, to meet the developmental needs of the community.

5. Implement an improved performance management program. Educate the community on the importance of performance management and development. Build and utilize the functionality of performance development technology to provide resources to department heads and chairs.

6. Implement current leadership development program for emerging leaders and present enhanced
opportunities for development including coaching and mentoring programs.

7. Provide organizational development consulting to managers and staff, including assessment,
development and delivery of department specific solutions.

8. In partnership with the AVP for Human Resources, assist in the development and implementation of engagement initiatives that support an inclusive work environment.

9. Develop and track the success of strategic recruitment and retention efforts through data analytics and other feedback mechanisms.

Bachelor’s degree required, advanced degree preferred.

7+ years’ of progressive responsibility and demonstrated expertise in employee and labor relations, talent management, assessment, engagement and development. Proven experience working across environments with diverse constituent groups. Experience as a strategic leader with strong supervisory skills. Excellent interpersonal and relationship building skills. SHRM certification preferred.

Proficient in MS office applications and experience with e-learning development tools, and delivery of training through multiple mediums.

• Outstanding verbal and written communication skills

• Knowledge of current training, learning theory and practice, assessment and organizational development models and technologies

• Knowledge of the principles, practices associated with applicable federal, state, and local employment and workplace regulations. This includes: Title IX, FLSA, ADA, FMLA, ERISA, OSHA, ADEA

• Strong organizational skills and a results orientation

• Excellent project management skills

• Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and strategically in a team

• Exceptional judgment, strong initiative, poise, and patience

• Excellent interpersonal skills with ability to interact with diverse internal and external constituents
