Job Details

Holland & Knight is seeking a Benefits Administrator to work at our global operations center in Brandon, FL, (Tampa Bay Area). This position is responsible for planning and directing the day-to-day operations of Holland & Knight’s retirement plans (401k, defined benefit pension plan, and cash balance plan) and health and welfare plans (group health, dental, vision, short-term and long-term disability, life insurance, flexibly spending, travel and accident).  This position is a key point of contact for partners and employees to obtain information about the firm’s benefit offerings.

 

Key Responsibilities Include:

  • Oversee day-to-day benefits operations.  Handle enrollments, COBRA, terminations, changes, beneficiaries, disability, accident and death claims, rollovers, QDROs, distributions, loans, hardships and compliance testing.
  • Provide customer service support to partners and employees. Answer questions and provide guidance to new, current, and former plan participants.
  • Coordinate, attend and take minutes at quarterly Profit Sharing Committee meetings.
  • Develop communication tools to enhance understanding of the firm’s benefits plans. Design and distribute benefits materials for orientation, open enrollment and summary plan descriptions. Coordinate educational webinars and on-site meetings.
  • Serve as a point of contact for plan vendors, third-party administrators, investment advisors, and actuaries. Monitor performance of plan professionals; prepare and conduct requests for proposals for plan services as needed. Oversee annual audits, actuarial and other ERISA-required testing for the retirement and benefit plans. Ensure compliance with applicable government regulations. Ensure timeliness and accuracy of required reporting and fees.
  • Work with the firm’s HR systems administrator to manage benefits system integrations with third-party administrators.
  • Evaluate and redesign benefits processes to reduce costs and increase efficiency. Document and maintain administrative procedures for benefits processes. Oversee maintenance of employee benefits files and update employee payroll records.
  • Special projects and additional duties as assigned.

 

Requirements

Qualifications:

  • Minimum 7 years of experience required in the administration of ERISA-qualified retirement and 401k plans and health and welfare plans.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to analyze issues and recommend solutions.
  • Keen attention to detail.
  • Strong time management skills and ability to multi task.
  • Experience with Workday or other enterprise HR/payroll system.
  • Ability to travel approximately 5-10%.

 

Minimum Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree required.
