Celebrating its 50th Anniversary, American Conservatory Theater (A.C.T.) is the Bay Area’s Tony Award-winning flagship theater.  Renowned for its rich variety of programming, A.C.T. presents great plays and musicals, and pushes the boundaries of theatrical storytelling. 

 

A.C.T. is the only American regional theater to house a professional actor-training program; actors who have studied at  A.C.T. include Annette Bening, Benjamin Bratt, Nicholas Cage, Darren Criss, Harry Hamlin, Anika Noni Rose, Anna Deavere Smith, and Denzel Washington. It performs in the historic Geary Theater and the recently-opened, state-of-the-art Strand Theater, both in San Francisco.  A.C.T. takes pride in its tremendous theatrical legacy of performance and training, and plays a vital role in creating the art and artists of the future.

 

The Benefits Administrator is responsible for coordinating and administering all aspects of the benefit programs provided to eligible employees of American Conservatory Theater.  This includes medical insurance, dental, vision, life insurance, accidental death and dismemberment, long-term disability, worker compensation, commuter discounts, and maintenance of other programs, such as the pension plan.  This position provides general and timely support to employees to ensure resolution of any insurance claim/issues.  The Administer works closely with the Human Resources Director to ensure A.C.T. makes a concerted effort to create a work environment that reflects our core values, ensuring that employees can contribute their best efforts to the American Conservatory Theater.

  • Provide support to HR, addressing and resolving issues about A.C.T.’s benefit programs.
  • Serve as an employee advocate and resource for employees regarding benefits and wellness inquiries.
  • Prepare and process payment for the company's health and welfare carrier/vendor invoices, and processing of all bills. This role will be one of the primary responsibilities of the Benefits Administrator.
  • Use available online resources and payroll reporting systems for benefit billing and eligibility, enrollment and reconciliation:; Resolve vendor eligibility, claims and other issues.
  • Coordinate and conduct the annual Open Enrollment process.: Create, design and/or format employee benefit communications, especially for the annual Open Enrollment period.
  • Provide benefits analysis as requested by HR and Finance Use Excel for analytical projects.
  •  Support Human Resources Director with special projects: Serve as back up for orher team members as needed.
  • Hours anticipated as 20-25/week

Requirements

Requirements:

  • Minimum 5 years  experience administering employee benefits
  • Bachelor’s degree (Ideally in Human Resources or Finance)
  • Excellent customer service skills, with focus on responsiveness, accuracy and customer advocacy.
  • Working knowledge of employee benefit plans including San Francisco City and County Health Care Ordinances, plan operations, compliance and health and welfare benefit plan design: General familiarity with other Human Resources functions, and operations including but not limited to  California & Federal Labor laws, Affordable Health Care, State and Federal leave acts, State Disability and Unemployment programs..
  • Team-oriented mentality
  • Effective oral and written communication skills;
  • Ability to organize and prioritize work; strong analytical skills; ability to work under limited supervision
