The Benefits Administrator is accountable for performing the day-to-day and administrative functions for Wesco's benefit programs, including health insurance, life insurance, retirement, wellness, leave of absence, workers' compensation, FSA, and 401(k) plan. This position will monitor all aspects of benefits administration as well as provide analytical and technical support in the delivery of the benefits programs This responsibility includes maintaining associated records, follow-up with employees, managers, and vendors, as well as compliance with local, state and federal regulations.  The Benefits Administrator will be responsible for creating and distributing communications, maintaining employee and benefit records and working with HR Business Partners and managers to ensure compliance with company policy and to assist with accommodation of work restrictions and the implications regarding the impact on essential functions of a job.
Administers and communicates benefits program in regard to plan options, policy features, enrollment and other requirements
Primary responsibility for Leave of Absence administration for US and Canadian employees including requests, approvals, tracking and coordination of all types of Leaves
Manages Workers' Compensation claims administration, OSHA reporting and follow up requirements to re-assess and/or accommodate disabled workers, as applicable
Ensures benefit plans are administered in accordance with external regulations and internal processes

Serves as systems administrator for benefits functionality and data in the global HR data management system
Administers and coordinates activities associated with the Wellness Program and recommends initiatives consistent with the mission and vision of the Wellness Program
Effectively communicates and delivers new hire benefit orientation and employee educational meetings
Coordinates open enrollment, benefit programs, and employee education meetings

Must have the ability to research, evaluate, and analyze complex technical data related to benefit plans and programs in an organized way
Respond to customer service phone calls to resolve employee benefit questions regarding Wesco's benefit programs and other benefits

Audit, process, activate employee applications, benefit changes, updates or initiate benefit separation documentation, as applicable, on benefit provider web sites 

Serve as an HRIS benefit specialist in designing HR Intranet website changes, upgrades, application of designs and inter-active tools for end-users; and training modules and/or third-party benefit link

Monitor benefit database integrity, ensuring invoice accuracy, reconciling account discrepancies, and submitting timely payment requests on a regular and systematic basis

Audit, process, activate employee applications, benefit changes, updates or initiate benefit separation documentation, as applicable, on benefit provider web site

Serve as liaison with the third-party benefit administrators to provide prompt assistance to employees and/or dependents in resolving benefit issues, account corrections or emergency response needs
Track, record, monitor and report on all employee leave of absences, adhering to Federal and State regulatory compliance requirements and/or Wesco leave policies in a timely manner
Responsible for Workers' Compensation claims administration, OSHA reporting and follow up requirements to re-assess and/or accommodate disabled workers, as applicable

Write detailed reports, presentation and develop standard and ad hoc reports, templates, dashboards, and metrics
Work closely with the HR/Benefits team and contribute on projects, highlighting issues, and making recommendations to address issues and priorities as needed
Organize special events, health fairs, screenings, blood drives, etc.

Identify and participate in continuous improvement initiatives
Travel periodically as required

Perform other duties as assigned


• Bachelor's degree required, preferably in finance, business, and/or human resources experience
• 3-5 years of benefits experience, with a preference in a mid to large (500+) size company
• Strong analytic skills in order to create and maintain metrics, reports and planning schedules
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills and ability to effectively present information and recommendations
• Fundamental to Advanced knowledge of Health & Welfare benefit principles and human resources management systems (i.e.- ADP, PeopleSoft, Oracle)
• Solid knowledge of the DOL, Federal and State employment laws, FMLA, CFRA, PFL, State Disability, Workers' Compensation and OSHA regulatory compliance required
• Strong competency working with HRIS data systems and utilization of third-party websites; Microsoft Office Suite, including Outlook and intermediate to advanced Word and Excel (i.e., spreadsheets, formulas, importing and exporting of files, as applicable) as required
• Working knowledge of best practices related to: Compliance and reporting requirement; Plan administration; Wellness Programs and Employee Benefits Plans; Leave Administration
• Demonstrated understanding of laws and regulations including IRS, COBRA, FMLA, ERISA and HCR
• Demonstrated ability to organize projects and maintain schedules
• Demonstrated written and verbal communication skill with ability to effectively explain complicated topics to all levels of employees
