Benefits Analyst
Requisition 25769

Under general direction of the Benefits Supervisor, the Benefits Analyst provides administrative and technical support to department representatives and employees on all UC benefits matters including the separate benefits program for Postdoctoral Scholars, Fellows and Paid Directs. Incumbents have responsibility for providing consultation and training to campus departments on policies and procedures related to employee benefit programs, processing leaves of absence (i.e., disability, family medical, maternity, etc. , processing direct payments for continuation of health and welfare benefits coverage, reviewing and auditing retirement savings forms for 403(b) and defined contribution plan; and resolving employee benefits issues, problems and concerns pertaining to all UC employee benefits plans (e.g. health, dental, life, disability, AD&D, legal, savings plans, retirement, etc.). Effective and responsive customer service, i.e. is critical in this role

  • Skill in using Microsoft Office applications for recording and manipulating data (inputting, calculations, sorting, etc.), composing correspondence, and developing basic PowerPoint presentations
  • Skill in analyzing information, situations or established procedures to define problems, identify relevant concerns or factors, formulate logical conclusions and recognize alternatives and their implications
  • Skill in computing percentages and performing simple mathematical calculations to complete benefit worksheets, pro-rate premium rates, reconcile ledgers, etc
  • An entry-level accounting skill to perform journal entries and evaluate debits and credits to determine a historical sequence of transaction events and reconcile ledgers
  • Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of the organization to explain benefits, health and welfare matters, leaves, disability payments, etc

This is a one year contract position
