Job Details

Serves as the Chief Human Resources Officer for the university. Charged to establish and implement HR strategies that communicate and support Webster’s vision and mission. Advises the President and Provost/COO on institutional strategies to improve Webster’s organizational development, to increase Webster’s human resource capabilities that advance our mission, and to strengthen our institutional culture while overseeing all aspects of human resource management across Webster’s worldwide network. Oversees comprehensive employee services and programs that create and foster a productive, diverse, and inclusive environment in which university employees can work and thrive, with an emphasis on employee and career development and culture as the university maintains its standard as an employer of choice. Provides knowledgeable leadership to collaborate with senior leaders as we develop and implement university-wide policies and programs encompassing all aspects of human resource management and talent development. Collaborates with Provost/COO and University Secretary to function as university representative in employment-related mediation/litigation matters. Provides direction, supervision and development for all HR department staff. Provides administrative support to Board of Trustees Compensation Committee. Reports directly to the President with dotted line reporting to Provost/COO.


· Requires a master’s degree in human resources, management, business or a related field along with a minimum of 5 years of progressively responsible experience in the human resources field.

Functional/Technical Skills*

· Requires a thorough knowledge of human resource policies and procedures as well as related federal and state laws relating to all aspects of human resources.

· Prior experience managing and directing professional and support staff is necessary.

· Possesses computer literacy and working knowledge of data base systems and the University’s administrative systems and software.

· Demonstrated fact-finding, problem-solving and decision-making skills.

· Ability to analyze all types of data and make high-level recommendations.

· Excellent written and verbal communications and interpersonal skills.

· Demonstrated leadership skills and ability to work as a member of a team.

· Strength in employment and employee relations and related legal requirements.

· Experience leading organizations in positive new directions.

· Oversees and implements exemplary HR practices including, but not limited to, employee recruiting/hiring, onboarding, performance management, engagement, recognition and retention programs.

· An Extensive track record of forming highly effective internal and external relationships and collaborations.

· A track record of leading efficiency/process improvements, which resulted in heightened customer satisfaction.
