Job Details

The Compensation and Benefits Manager manages a team of professional staff and plans, coordinates and administers the compensation and benefit functions of McKee Foods.


Monday - Friday, 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. (or as required by business needs)

Job Summary

  • Leads the development, implementation, and administration of compensation and benefit programs
  • Manages common compensation functions including salary structure evaluation and design, merit pay processes, job classifications, salary budget review, and market compensation analyses
  • Manages benefits programs including health, retirement, life, disability, medical savings accounts, paid time off, and voluntary plans
  • Works with senior management and human resources to ensure that compensation and benefits programs remain competitive, are aligned with company strategy, and meet all legal requirements
  • Supervises group insurance, retirement, and benefits analytics professional staff
  • Serves on various company compensation and benefits committees
  • Leads or serves on continuous improvement project teams
  • Develops and manages compensation and benefits department budgets
  • Manages comp and benefits vendor/partner relationships


Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in business or related field
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in one or more of the following areas of expertise: compensation and benefits management, human resources management, business unit management, financial or other data analysis
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to develop, manage and inspire others
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills; ability to communicate with a wide variety of audiences
  • Demonstrated high level of personal integrity
  • Strong ability to analyze and interpret complex data and arrive at sound business decisions
  • Ability to maintain strict confidentiality of sensitive information
  • Ability to work under pressure, under short timelines, and with frequent interruptions
  • Proficient with MS Office Suite and a power user with Excel
  • If not already professionally certified, willingness to acquire certifications in compensation and benefits

Preferred Qualifications

  • MBA or other graduate degree in related area
  • 10 years of experience in compensation and benefits or HR management
  • Proficient with Workday, Microsoft Access and predictive analytics software
  • Relevant professional Certifications (CCP, CBP, SHRM-SCP, SPHR, CAPM, PMP, etc.)
  • Proven experience leading effective change
  • Experience working with lean or continuous improvement principles to solve problems and eliminate waste
