Q2 Software is seeking a Compensation Manager who will provide hands on management of our compensation programs, which are designed to support the growth of the business, our employeesand the company’s overall mission.The Compensation Manager will collaborate with HR, TA and the team on complex project leadership, reward analysis and recommendations, and other key Compensation-related actions for the company. S/he will ensure Q2 is using market-competitive practices and will provide practical solutions and plan designs to support strategic business objectives, as well as implement policies and programs designed to effectively deliver base salary, bonus and merit increase programs including hiring, promotion, and equity pay for all employees, including: sales, executives, operational, interns, as well as other professionals.

This expert will conduct bench-marking research, compensation studies, analyze, design and recommend programs and then roll up their sleeves and implement those solutions. This position will be an active partner in driving the total rewards philosophy and design programs that support employee whole life success, which attracts and retains top talent in alignment with the culture of the organization. The role will be strategic, but also hands-on, and will ideally have a mix of large company experience coupled with entrepreneurial, high-growth company experience. This highly-visible role will report to the Senior Vice President of Human Resources.



  • Lead compensation projects from design through execution, including leading/managing compensation programsshort-term and sales incentive plan design, and other compensation programs.
  • Manage and sometimes own highly confidential job evaluation processes, short-term incentive programs and specialized incentive programs for assigned region groups. Ensure compensation programs enhance the organization’s ability to recruit, retain and motivate employees.
  • Install approved new plans, tools and changes by preparing announcement materials and other media for communicating new plans and updates to employees. Conduct educational employee meetings. Revise and reissue all communications materials to insure adoption and understanding. Advise and counsel management and employees on all plans, tools, and programs
  • Consult with management regarding employee pay issues, policies, salary guidelines, commission/bonus guidelines,regulatory requirements (wage and hour laws, etc.), and job evaluation to ensure consistency with established philosophy and strategy.
  • Provide internal consulting expertise to human resources professionals, employees and other customers concerning compensation plan provisions and related compliance requirements
  • Stay abreast of changing compensation-related regulations to be able to provide guidance and direction to teams and develop strategies to mitigate risk exposure
  • Manage external service providers, as well as related contracts and administrative service agreements
  • Responsible for ensuring that all security, availability, confidentiality and privacy policies and controls are adhered to


  • Bachelor's or Master's Degree in a relevant field of work or an equivalent combination of education and work related experience
  • 6-10 years’ progressive work-related experience with demonstrated proficiency in disciplines/processes related to the position 
  • 6+ years’ progressive experience in compensation design and administration to include vendor management
  • 3+ years’ formal management experience required
  • Experience in multi-faceted compensation programs, including sales compensation, broad-based compensation, executive compensation
  • Previous experience working in a software technology companywith growing employee population in multiple geographiespreferred
  • Strong knowledge in all areas of compensation regulations and compliance
  • Strong computer skills to include proficiency in Word, PowerPoint, Outlook and advanced proficiency with MS Excel
  • Ability to meet and exceed customer needs and expectations and provide excellent service in a direct or indirect manner
  • Must have excellent problem solving skills
  • Demonstrate good judgment and decision making capability
  • Must be poised, creative, proactive, pragmatic, high energy, a self-starter and team player who has the personal and professional self-confidence to influence people and manage large groups
  • Demonstrable ability to quickly adapt to and manage changing environments as well as ability to guide employees through the change management process
  • Ability to work flexible hours as required by the needs of the business 

Ideally, you’ll also have:

  • CCP and/or CEBS certification preferred
  • Experience with various desktop and web-based applications is a plus (Adobe Acrobat Pro, Snagit, Citrix)
  • Experience with various virtual training platforms is a plus (e.g., Adobe Connect 9, WebEx, Zoom, etc.)
