Position Summary:The Compliance Manager will be responsible for supporting the development, implementation, and maintenance of the company’s policies, procedures and compliance programs and initiatives, ensuring compliance with applicable laws and best practices standards. The Compliance Manager will report to the Vice President of Human Resources and  will serve as a resource for compliance issues throughout the company.  A large focus of this role will be to manage, coach and develop people as well as working with the business unit leaders to focus on the compliance process.


Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Oversee all employee policy and procedure activity, including updates, and any associated implementations to support the corporate mission while ensuring compliance with employment regulations.
  • Maintain in-depth knowledge of legal requirements related to day-to-day management of employees, reducing legal risks and ensuring regulatory compliance, and periodically review and update policies and procedures to ensure compliance with applicable law.
  • Develop employee training materials and perform customized education sessions on specific compliance topics within the Human Resources department (e.g. I-9 verification, records management, information security), and with employees (e.g., workplace harassment and discrimination prevention training curriculum).
  • Maintain and administer the company’s Form I-9 verification system and work with local Human Resources managers and generalists to assist with technical and procedural issues. 
  • Lead comprehensive risk assessment of Human Resources’ functions (e.g. payroll and talent acquisition) and partner with business leaders to implement remediation or corrective action plans.
  • Build effective cross-functional partnerships, notably with Operations, Chief Financial Officer, the General Counsel and Internal Auditor, to address compliance and operational risk on Human Resources and related compliance matters, and to understand business strategy, objectives, challenges, opportunities and needs.
  • Develop and monitor internal reporting systems such as corporate hotline, and conduct internal investigations of compliance issues or complaints as directed.
  • Define key performance metrics for core compliance programs to track delivery against objectives as well as emerging risk areas.
  • Responds to alleged violations of rules, regulations, policies, procedures, and Standards of Conduct by evaluating or recommending the initiation of investigative procedures. Develops and oversees a system for uniform handling of such violations.
  • Provide advisory services on compliance-related topics, including process design and control or policy development.
  • Support risk assessment and audit processes as they relate to compliance.



Position Qualifications:

  • College degree required, advanced degree or certifications preferred.
  • Minimum 8 years’ of relevant Human Resources experience that includes Form I-9 verification.
  •          Minimum 5 years’ of experience in compliance, audit or risk management.
  •          Must be familiar with HRIS systems such as ADP and Kronos.
  •          Flexibility to travel as needed to conduct training and review compliance issues at units.
  •          Comprehensive Microsoft Office skills (Outlook, Work, Excel, PowerPoint). Ability to use internet and web based resources efficiently and effectively.
  •          Excellent communications skills, including written and verbal communication.
  •          Demonstrate flexibility and multi-tasking abilities to meet aggressive, competing deadlines.
  •          Strong analytical and project management skills.
  •          Superior organizational skills and strong attention to detail.
  •          Develop strong working relationships across the business and persuasively communicate with multiple levels of management.
