The Coordinator–Staff Relations’ provides management assistance, guidance, consultation and monitoring of various professional and complex HR employee relations functions in support of the FM operational units that employs over 800 service, maintenance, skilled crafts, administrative and professional employees and supervisors, many of whom are in collective bargaining unit classifications.  Will be responsible for providing guidance to and consulting with operational supervisors by interpreting management policies and procedures, work rules and collective bargaining agreements.  Acts as a resource to employees in responding to general policy related questions, mediating and resolving general workplace disputes and concerns. Conducts and documents investigations of policy, work rules and/or labor contract violations and insuring timely remedial action has been taken as needed and appropriate. Responsible for maintaining manual and electronic records, preparing reports and key metrics, conducting trends and needs analysis designed to promote employee engagement, recommend and facilitate process and program improvements where needed.  Will have a day to day responsibility in managing FM’s leave and absenteeism management programs and activities to include but not limited to FMLA, Worker’s Compensation, and ADA etc. The Coordinator will work with the Performance, Leave and Disciplinary modules within the department’s HRIS system (FMS). Act as a liaison between FM and other campus stakeholder groups and assist in the implementation and evaluation of FM training initiatives related to Staff Relations activities. May act as FM Management’s Representative in formal grievances and other hearings, as needed.

Requirements

Bachelor’s Degree required. Degree in HR, Management, Psychology or related field desired; 5-7 years of related and applicable Human Resources experience in Employee/Labor Relations, Training and/or Performance Management. Experience working in a large (500+), fast paced organization, public sector preferred, and within a unionized workforce is required.  Must have excellent computer skills and be able to manage multiple and time sensitive priorities and deadlines.  PHR Certification and ability to speak Spanish are plusses.

SALARY/BENEFITS:  UM offers a competitive benefits package.  Hiring range is $59,040 to $73,800 with starting salary being commensurate with experience.
