Job Details

Manages employment and classification functions, and ensures effective, quality responses to the College's employment and Human Resources needs.
 Basic Duties:

1.      Coordinate the filling of vacant positions, providing high level customer service by partnering with departments and coordinating employment activities with attention to detail.
 
2.      Recruit diverse pools of candidates for a wide range of jobs using a variety of techniques.
 
3.      Advise departments on advertising, writing effective ads and placing them in the appropriate medium, i.e., internet, newspapers, magazines.
 
4.      Advise departments on selection processes to include interviewing, skill and knowledge testing, background checks and reference checking, and assist in the development of effective interview questions and interview techniques.
 
5.      Classify positions using a point count evaluation system.
 
6.      Conduct job audits and analyze work.
 
7.      Write audit and evaluation reports and job descriptions. 
 
8.      Respond to salary surveys and compensation studies issues such as salary and range increases and compression.
 
9.      Handle filling multiple jobs and assignments simultaneously.
 
10. Maintain logs and compile statistical reports.
 
11. Process new hire paperwork, ensuring completeness and accuracy of materials.
 
12. Organize and facilitate New Employee Orientation.
 
13. Assist with the planning of events, receptions and career fairs.
 
14. Process and verify tuition waiver eligibility.
 
15. Maintain the clerical temporary worker pool and schedule temps as needed.
 
16. Knows, understands and acts in accordance with Illinois Central College's Cougar CARE Principles, including connects with students, owns the situation, uses opportunities to build relationships, goes the extra mile, acts promptly and professionally and remembers to work as a team.
 
17. Perform related duties as assigned.

Requirements

Necessary Qualifications:
The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills and abilities required
to satisfactorily perform the essential duties and responsibilities.
 
Knowledge of:
Principles and practices of Human Resources.
Operation principles of PC computer systems.
Microsoft Office .
 
Ability to:
Organize work and set priorities in order to meet deadlines.
Establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with others.
Maintain professionalism and confidentiality with all levels of staff.
Operate a PC and related software.
Communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
 Education and/or Experience:
Any combination of education and experience that demonstrates possession of the requisite knowledge, skill and abilities. A typical way to obtain these would be:
 
Bachelor's degree and a minimum of one year related experience.
