Chemonics seeks a Corporate Diversity and Inclusion Director. The Corporate Diversity and Inclusion Director leads, designs and implements, and adjusts Chemonics’ global diversity and inclusion (D&I) strategy to ensure it is integrated into the fabric of Chemonics culture, value and business model. The Corporate Diversity and Inclusion Director will work with global stakeholders throughout the organization to create and deliver initiatives designed to foster a culture of diversity and inclusion, and will closely collaborate with the Gender Equality and Social Inclusion practice on inclusion work being done for clients. The director will ensure D&I work aligns with Chemonics’ overall business model and will play a critical role in ensuring D&I becomes a core leadership competency for staff within the company. The Corporate Diversity and Inclusion Director will report to the President and CEO. We are looking for individuals who have a passion for making a difference in the lives of people around the world. 
Responsibilities include: 
  • Designs, leads and implements a global diversity and inclusion strategy focused on Chemonics employees within the organization
  • Promotes diversity in hiring and fairness in staff management and promotions
  • Recruits appropriate training facilitators and/or serves as a training facilitator for Chemonics staff on D&I issues
  • Develops and/or identifies metrics to help the human resources team and the executive office track corporate progress in promoting a more diverse and inclusive workplace; supports the collection and analysis of regular internal data points that provide information on D&I
  • Works with the Diversity Council and the Honoring Our Differences Committee to establish a annual D&I work plan and budget with measurable outcomes
  • Manages and serves as a resource for the D&I council members and affinity groups who implement specific internally-focused activities
  • Partners with Human Resources, the Office of Business Conduct, the Executive Management Team, the Gender Equality and Social Inclusion (GESI) Practice, and the Small Business Department to implement diversity and inclusion strategies, programs, policies, and metrics that will attract, retain and promote a diverse workforce and foster an environment of inclusion
  • Tracks, analyzes, and shares D&I trends and priorities to update Chemonics’ internal approach to fostering a more inclusive work environment
  • Coordinates the development of training materials to help equip staff with the skills needed to attract and retain a diverse workforce
  • Works with the internal communications team to develop a D&I corporate communication and branding strategy
  • In conjunction with the GESI practice, contributes to industry forums, such as technical working groups, conferences, learning events, and blogs
  • Ensures that D&I strategy is aligned with business strategy and objectives across the organization, including in our home and field offices
  • Promotes staff development through coaching, mentoring, and facilitating professional growth opportunities
  • Performs other duties and responsibilities as required


  • Bachelor’s degree required. Advanced degree preferred
  • Minimum 8 years’ experience in business management, human resources, or another related field, including at least 5 of which must be in the field of D&I
  • Demonstrated knowledge of trends in D&I
  • Experience working across diverse cultures in international development preferred
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate clearly and concisely both orally and in writing. This includes public presentations and contribution to publications
  • Demonstrated ability to build and manage working relationships with clients, partners, and technical experts, including the ability to influence key stakeholders and drive business objectives
  • Demonstrated interpersonal and cross-functional influencing skills, including the ability to effectively coach leaders, build relationships and leverage resources within the department and across the organization to advance D&I strategy
  • Demonstrated ability to balance the sometimes conflicting perspectives/priorities of management versus marginalized groups and be able to build trust with both groups.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage and supervise individuals in a matrixed organization
  • Ability to solve complex technical, managerial, or operational problems and evaluation options based on relevant information, resources, well-rounded experience, and knowledge
  • Strong knowledge of MS Office applications
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
  • Willingness to travel and work abroad a minimum of 4-8 weeks per year; experience working in developing countries preferred
  • Foreign language proficiency preferred
