Abbott Hematology is seeking a Director of Business Human Resources to serve as the primary strategic partner to the business, developing HR strategies, needs assessments and the resulting HR solutions.  This role will support a fully operating business including Sales and Marketing, R&D, Manufacturing, Clinical, Regulatory, and Quality functions including approximately 300 employees globally and growing. It is a fast growing, dynamic business requiring a strong Business HR Partner to participate on the leadership team.  Ideal candidates would possess expertise leading HR for commercial populations, prior international experience, and success working in a complex matrix environment.


Primary Job Function: 

  • Serve as the primary strategic partner to the business, developing HR strategies that are aligned with business imperatives, conducting needs assessments and implementing resulting HR solutions. Ensures strategies are incorporate and consistent with divisional/corporate values, sound and ethical business practices, and Abbott HR practices and support the long-range business plan.
  • Ensures the effective delivery of HR programs and services across multiple locations. Responsible for HR results in the business, including client satisfaction, HR effectiveness and associated financial results.
  • Establishes, builds and maintains strong relationships with key HR partners from Area BHR, Practice Areas and Service Centers to ensure elements of HR are successfully coordinated to meet and exceed business needs.
  • Provides strategic BHR support for all functional areas of the business and responsible for Division ETMR project management, including Metrics, Analytics and Business Integration activities related to mergers and acquisitions, as appropriate.
  • Responsible for the development and leadership of HR staff (2 direct reports).
  • Responsible for compliance with applicable Corporate and Divisional Policies and procedures.



This role is located onsite in Santa Clara, CA.  No remote working arrangements will be considered.  Relocation is available for the right candidate.


  • Bachelor's degree required. Advanced degree preferred.
  • 8-10 years progressive relevant experience in HR.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively negotiate with management to achieve both HR and business objectives.
  • Understanding of key business and financial drivers and demonstrated strong delivery of HR results.
  • HR experience for a business unit or across multiple organizations/sites preferred.
  • Previous Commercial experience.
  • Prior supervisory/leadership experience with multiple levels of professionals desired.
  • Some international experience preferred.STra
