Job Details

To be fully engaged in providing Quality/No Harm, Customer Experience, and Stewardship by designing, implementing and directing effective, efficient programs and systems in all areas of Benefits, Compensation, HRIS, Center for Child Development, and the Associate Service Center. Provides strategic direction and vision to support the Integrated Delivery Network of Health First.
PRIMARY ACCOUNTABILITIES:
 
Engagement:
  • Inspirationally leads the associates directly involved in the benefits, compensation, HRIS, Center for Child Development and the Associate Service Center by setting the vision for the department and consistently and positively demonstrating how to achieve that vision.
  • Uses strengths principles to assist staff members in finding the right fit job within the department or elsewhere if necessary.
  • Manages, leads and directs staff by including them significantly in effective planning and decision making that positively affects departmental results and contributes towards the success of Health First.
  • Initiates and maintains strategies to achieve high associate morale and job satisfaction through organizational/ departmental meetings, regular unit rounds, and maintaining an open door policy for all Health First, Inc. associates.
  • Consistently demonstrates and lives out the I-CARE values of Health First in all work-related relationships, both inside and outside of the organization.
  • Looks for and acts on opportunities to serve team members and other customers
Quality/No Harm:
  • Maintains a safe environment for both customers and team members.
  • Oversees strategic direction for Health First benefits, ensuring a competitive, cost effective, flexible and cutting edge package of benefits for each Health First division/unit.
  • Maximizes the results achieved by associates within the organization by insuring that compensation systems are current and fully aligned with the accomplishment of Health First’s mission and its strategic objectives.
  • Insures that associates benefits and compensation strategies meet criteria established by various legal, regulatory, and accrediting bodies (such as ERISA, DOL, IRS, etc.).
  • Leads the Human Resources Associates Services and Total Rewards Department by contributing to the achievement of the mission and objectives of Health First, Inc. and the Human Resources Department in specific, measurable ways.
  • Assures effective interdepartmental liaison through maintaining a close working relationship with all Health First, Inc. associates and managers regarding human resources activities, policies, and procedures.
  • Develops and directs a competitive benefit, compensation and total reward programs, aligned with the strategic focus of Health First, which enables the recruitment and retention of highly competent associates and managers.
  • Contributes to the overall management of Health First, Inc. through innovative recommendations to the Chief HR Officer and the Executive Staff of Health First, Inc. regarding benefits, compensation, and total rewards.
  • Acts as internal consultant for executives, directors, managers, supervisors, and others regarding legal/regulatory issues and H.R. issues affecting associates and the workplace.
  • Meets departmental quality indicators on an ongoing basis.
  • Monitors the users of departmental services closely to identify quality issues and improve overall services. Reports significant information to appropriate peers and/or service managers.
  • Designs, develops, and implements variable incentive and alternative pay plans.
  • Supports the development and administration of the management and executive compensation pay plan.
  • Leads the Workers Compensation function and program, providing comprehensive, cost effective care for associates legitimately injured on the job.
  • Ensures the smooth administration of the position management system, ensuring proper interface with Talent Management, Payroll and Finance.
  • Creates, oversees, and supports total reward programs and motivation activities and the various associate activities committees.
  • Provides leadership and direction of staff and activities at the Center for Child Development.
Customer Experience:
  • Understands and adheres to the Human Resources promises, and the standards and behaviors that demonstrate those promises in the workplace. Leads and expects team-members to do the same.
  • Looks for and acts on opportunities to serve the Human Resource Operations staff and other customers.
  • Leads staff to meet and maintain a high standard of internal customer satisfaction.
  • Quickly recognizes inappropriate behavior or poor performance by managers/leaders and to take the actions necessary to develop improved or correct unacceptable behavior or performance.
  • Acts equally quickly with responsible managers to insure inappropriate or unacceptable performance or behavior by associates is dealt with in a fair but firm way with the objective to salvage and develop associates.
  • Takes full responsibility for failures of the department. Shares the recognition for all successes of the department with staff.
  • Shows resilience and a positive perspective in the midst of stress and the unrelenting changes in today’s health care environment.
  • Assures the Chief HR Officer has accurate, timely information regarding employee needs and recommendations in relation to people practices.
  • Maintains and/or seeks increases in benefits satisfaction levels through regular benefits communications and associate feedback.
  • Stewardship:
  • Achieves financial goals established for the Human Resources Associate Services and Total Rewards and recommends financial goals for the future through efficient budgeting, effective monitoring, and careful review/correction of deviations fromsthe approved budget.
  • Identifies and implements ways to reduce present and future costs and expenses without sacrificing quality or customer aatisfaction.
  • Achieves financial goals established for The Center for Child Development

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources Administration or related area, MBA strongly preferred.
  • Outstanding, positive human relation’s skills required with the ability to utilize effective conflict resolution skills.
  • Ten years of experience in Human Resources required, with five or more years in a managerial H.R. role.
  • Advanced knowledge of benefit plans, including but not limited to medical, dental, vision, 401(k), pension, life insurance, disability, leave of absence, etc.
  • Exceptional oral and written communication skills.
