Director, Human Resources  - K2

LOCATION: Seattle, WA 


The Director, Human Resources will have primary responsibility for managing job descriptions, hiring and terminating employees as required.  The Director, Human Resources plans and administers personnel programs and policies to provide for the full and effective utilization of human resources in support of the Company's strategy and desired culture.  The Director Human Resources supports a career-oriented, non-union environment for K2 employees that is safe, productive, rewarding and fun and advises management regarding personnel matters. The Director, Human Resources covers 4 locations: 3 in the USA and one in Canada.   


  • Ensures effective utilization of the company's human resources by developing, implementing and evaluating personnel programs, activities, policies and procedures that meet organizational objectives and are in compliance with state and federal regulations.  Conducts studies and audits for compliance and consistent application of programs.
  • Ensures qualified candidates for vacant positions by directing the recruiting, advertising, and prescreening of applicants.  Coordinates with managers to identify position qualifications and requirements, recommends qualified applicants, and provides assistance as required by the hiring managers in final selection.
  • Coordinates with and manages agency partners.
  • Provides for equitable and competitive salary schedules and benefits by researching, recommending and administering salary and benefit programs.  Conducts salary surveys to determine prevailing wage levels and recommends salary rates.  Meets with insurance brokers to coordinate benefits programs and recommend program changes.
  • Provides for the training and development of employees to meet organizational needs.  Assesses needs and coordinates training and management development programs.  Assists managers in providing educational and career counseling.
  • Provides for a high level of employee morale by assisting in the consistent resolution of personnel problems.  Advises and counsels on a wide range of personnel subjects to all levels of staff.  Coordinates the Employee Assistance Program.  Assists managers in uniform application of discipline and in disposition of grievances.  Review disciplinary actions to assure they are consistent with company policies.
  • Contributes to employee safety and security by developing and administering safety programs and security of the office and plant facilities and grounds.  Directs programs in accident prevention and safety awareness with assistance of operating managers.  Administers workers' compensation program and benefits.  Coordinates safety training and practices.
  • Contributes to effective company communication between staff members and in the community.  Explains policies and procedures to employees.  Assists with and reviews communications from managers and supervisors to employees. 
  • Maintains historical human resource records by designing a filing and retrieval system; keeping past and current records.

Expected Travel:   Up to 25% 



  • A Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources or related field from a regionally accredited college or university required.
  • A minimum of Five (5) years of Senior level Human Resources experience.
  • The willingness and ability to travel up to 25% of the time.  Some travel may be international.



  • Experience working in Canada or other foreign entities.
