Job Details

The Salvation Army Eastern Territorial Headquarters has a newly created opening for an HRIS Director. This individual will lead the deployment of a fully integrated HRIS across The Salvation Army Eastern Territory, serving more than 10,000 employees. This position will develop, implement, enhance, test and maintain the HRIS application and data. This position will work closely with professionals in HR, Finance, IT, Commands and 3rd party vendors. The measures of success are delivery of an outstanding employee/stakeholder experience and full adoption of the HRIS process improvements within budget

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Lead the development, implementation and maintenance of the enterprise-wide HRIS system to meet the business needs and objectives
  • Deliver HRIS solutions that support HR disciplines including Talent Acquisition, Payroll, Benefits, Talent Management, Learning and Development, and Business Intelligence
  • Ensure the system supports the strategic direction by maintaining roadmaps that are aligned to the current policies and procedures
  • Prepare project plans, system and functional requirements and financial projections of the project
  • Serve as the key contact to the HRIS vendor; lead the analysis of costs and long-term implications of technology decisions
  • Foster a HRIS self-service environment across the organization. Develop user procedures, guidelines and documentation and train stakeholders on HRIS processes/functionality to drive sustainable transformation
  • Ensure a high quality employee experience as well as ongoing compliance with policies and regulations
  • Some business travel required

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent, in a related field; MBA helpful
  • 5-7 years of HRIS/Systems experience including a deep understanding of system architectures, complex reporting, and analytics; preferably using Ultimate Software
  • 2-3 years of Payroll/ HR experience strongly preferred
  • Familiarity with federal, state and local wages, labor and employment laws
  • Proven background in leading a successful implementation of a cloud-based HRIS platform
  • Possess the ability to be both strategic and hands-on; and a strong commitment to operational excellence
  • Advanced Excel skills/Microsoft Office skills required
  • Critical thinking and strong business acumen
  • Ability to be sensitive to stakeholders concerns/needs and effectively communicate rationale for adaption to different, and sometimes conflicting requests/needs
  • Demonstrated experience handling sensitive employment data
