The Human Resources Director leads Human Resources practices and objectives that provide an employee-oriented, high performance culture.  Establishment and administration of Human Resource strategy and corresponding policies for the organization, including employee relations, manager counseling, performance management structure, recruitment, employment, EEO/AAP, training and development, compensation strategy and management, freelance employment/independentcontractors, internal communications, and special projects. Serves as business partner by aligning people strategies with business strategies.

 

 

Scope

Human Resources responsibility for all employees in the organization as well as freelance/contract workers. No direct reports. No budgetary responsibility.

 

Reporting and Working Relationships

Reports directly to Vice President, Human Resources, or Sr Director, Human Resources. Works with all departments and levels within the organization. Partners closely with Benefits, Payroll, Legal and HR professionals across the larger Maritz organization.

 

Primary Responsibility

30%

Develops organization strategies by identifying and researching human resources issues; contributing information, analysis, and recommendations to strategic thinking and direction. Establishes human resources objectives in line with company objectives. Implements human resources strategies by establishing department accountabilities, including employee relations and retention, succession planning, talent acquisition, staffing, compensation, training and development, AA/EEO compliance, and labor relations. Assists leadership with wage adjustment requests, promotional and bonus recommendations, and coordinates merit process with management on a yearly basis.

Acts as a business partner with all areas of the company to drive Maritz goals, objectives, and values. Works closely with managers and employees to resolve employee concerns/issues and further manager development to ensure best human resources practices. Facilitates proactive employee communications. Maintains knowledge of industry trends and employment legislation. Ensures organization's compliance with federal, state and local legislation pertaining to all employee matters. Provides timely investigation and response to claims, partnering with Legal, when necessary. Counsels managers regarding employee relation issues and reinforces ongoing aspirational and performance coaching. Participates in performance discussions with management to support employee development and address situations appropriately. Identifies and implements training required for development and compliance of employees.

Provides HR expertise and serve as a trusted advisor to company leadership. Partners with management to represent and effectively communicate vital messages, expectations, and direction to employees across all levels of the company. Fosters a culture that promotes employee engagement, teamwork, innovation and change implementation. Supports and is an advisor for leadership in the area of employee engagement. Acts as a champion and role model of our vision and values. Manages company-wide recognition programs.

Collaborates and partners with Talent Acquisition to support recruitment process. May assist with interviewing and other parts of the hiring process as necessary. Guides managers during recruitment process in respect to organization structure, decisions and offers. Creates and updates job descriptions in partnership with managers, including reviewing market data and ensuring jobs are aligned appropriately in the organization and market. Supports on-boarding initiatives and process for new hires in the organization.

Requirements

Qualifications

1.  BS degree in Human Resources Administration, Industrial Relations, Psychology or Business.  Minimum of 7 years Generalist, Human Resources experience, preferably from multiple employers with varied experience.

2.  Experience in developing HR strategy.

3.  Prior experience working with compensation plans.

4.  Working knowledge of Workday a plus.

5.  Strong time management skills with the ability to handle changing priorities.

6.  In-depth knowledge of Employment/Human Resources law.
