Job Details

1.       Job Title:

Director – Human Resources

2.       Specific Plant/Project/Site:

Corporate office Lafayette, CO

3.       Reports To:

SVP – Accounting and Finance; dotted line to CEO / President of Heorot Power Holdings LLC

4.   Purpose:

Direct and lead all corporate and plant level human resource functions, participate as part of the Sr. Management Team, assist in corporate strategic direction and new business development opportunities, and provide insight and direction to operations and maintenance functions.

5.   Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Technical HR skills as well as management, leadership and counseling skills to be an effective business partner with the Sr. Management Team and the plants

  • Must provide strategic and transactional HR leadership to the organization

  • Be a change agent, who can assist in changing the culture at the Company and bring new ideas and practices to the HR management function

  • Responsible for developing and managing all facets of human resources; including recruiting and selection, payroll, benefits administration and determination, performance management, employee relations, compensation planning, employee recognition, employee development, union avoidance and management of labor relations activities, team building, management coaching, developing policies and procedures, and any other HR related functions

  • Responsible for all HR functions associated with corporate and plant operations, new business development opportunities, M&A activity, while being compliant and consistent with goals and objectives

  • Will work closely with the SVP – Accounting and Finance to assess the overall quality of the management and supervisory team versus the strategic and near-term goals of the Company. This responsibility will also include working with departmental and plant management in a similar fashion

  • Must stay up to date on changing HR laws, policies and procedures in all states in which the Company does business

  • Other duties as assigned

     

6.       Supervisory Duties and Responsibilities:

    • Will have direct reporting responsibility for all corporate Human Resource personnel including: HR Supervisor and Administrative Asst. May also give some direction to the Division Accounting Managers, Plant Controllers and Processors at the plants on HR issues, payroll and benefit administration

Requirements

6.       Physical Requirements/Work Environment:

  • Plant visits and due diligence trips involve considerable walking and lesser amounts of stooping and climbing at plant locations

  • Domestic travel requirements 25% - 35%, which includes visits to corporate offices, plant locations and due diligence visits as needed

  • Must be able to endure conditions such as extreme temperature, loud noises, fumes, dust, etc.

  • Hearing and vision are required

  • Must be able to operate a motor vehicle and have a valid driver’s license

     

7.       Required/Desired Skills or Experience

  • At least 10-15 years of proven human resources experience, with at least 5-10 years in a management role

  • Previous experience in manufacturing or the power industry a plus

  • Must have both union avoidance and managing HR functions in a union environment experience

  • Experience in the development and management of HR programs for a diverse workforce

  • Experience in working with employees at all levels of the organization, from Sr. Management to plant level employees

  • Experience in development and implementation of mandated HR programs

  • Demonstrated experience in developing and implementing HR programs responsive to strategic business goals and business needs

  • Demonstrated experience in driving cultural change within HR and across the organization

  • Experience in the establishment of strong HR organizational assessment functions including replacement of ineffective performing employees

  • Articulate, leadership skills and excellent management presence

  • Demonstrated record of innovation in HR management

  • Effective team player comfortable working with people at all levels of the organization

  • Has the ability to present challenging and new ideas, accept feedback and reach consensus

 

8.       Educational Requirements/Preferences:

 

  • 4-year college degree required; with experience in human resources and business

  • Advanced degree or MBA preferred

     

9.       Required/Desired Licenses, Certifications, Registrations, etc.:

  • Professional HR certification (PHR or SPHR)
