Position Summary:

Develops policy and directs human resources activities such as staffing, compensation, employee relations, benefits, workplace policy and programs by performing the following duties personally or through direct reports.

Key Job Responsibilities:

  • Develops and communicates workplace policies and programs including but not limited to compensation, benefits, performance appraisal, equal employment opportunities, compliance, and employee relations.  Works to develop policies and programs, which support Teknion LLC business objectives as well as meet employee needs and the requirements of applicable employment and benefits law.  Works to maintain a positive employee relations climate that supports productivity and accomplishment of business objectives. Works with Teknion Corporation to assess appropriateness of uniform policies across North America; share best practices with each other.
  • Consults legal counsel to ensure that policies and practices comply with federal, state, and local law in instances where a legal opinion is required.
  • Plans and directs staffing and organization activities including recruitment and screening of qualified job applicants, interviewing and testing, reference and background checking, and job offer process.  Includes responsibility for prudent management of recruiting expenses, internal posting system, and forecasting/maintenance of organization charts as well as helping to assure that hiring managers adhere to budgets and to hiring processes.
  • Develops and maintains a human resources information system and a payroll system/process that meet management needs as well as external compliance requirements. 
  • Manages employee benefit plans including cost-effective plan design, employee satisfaction, compliance, communication, and plan administration.  Analyzes employee utilization of current benefits as well as external survey information and develops specific design and purchase recommendations, which balance business cost containment and the need for attracting and retaining employees. Works directly with providers and brokers/consultants as well as ERISA attorney.
  • Analyzes company compensation policies and programs in relation to government regulations, external market data, and internal data. Recommends changes as needed. Recommends special compensation programs or incentive systems for all employees or for specific groups to support the organization's objectives.
  • Manages affirmative action and equal employment opportunity programs as well as other compliance programs

Requirements

Qualifications and Educational Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources or equivalent; and 5-7 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • PHR, SHRM or equivalent certification preferred
  • Knowledge of local, state and federal employment law
  • Experience developing and communicating human resources policies and programs for a multi-state organization.
  • Benefits design experience.
  • Ability to work effectively with all levels of the organization.
  • Supervisory experience (both professional and clerical staff).
  • Excellent written and oral presentation skills.
