Job Details

Ardmore Home Design is looking for a Director, Human Resources who is highly skilled in employee relations, employment law, talent acquisition and learning and development. Reporting to the VP Finance and Operations with a dotted line to the CEO and overseeing a staff of two, this person will be responsible for the overall Human Resources operations of a 120+ person organization. The Director, Human Resources is charged with recruiting, developing, and maintaining a superior workforce to keep pace with Ardmore Home Design's growth.

Together with your team, you will:

  • Be a strategic partner with executive management team to ensure HR priorities align with company’s goals and objectives.
  • Manage HR operations by recruiting, orienting, training, coaching, and counseling staff
  • Review and make recommendations to executive management for improvement of the organization’s policies, procedures, and practices
  • Assist executive management in the review, preparation and administration of the organization’s discretionary bonus and discretionary salary increase program
  • Oversee the performance management process for all employees
  • Develop and oversee a learning and development program for all employees
  • Provide expertise for investigations of safety concerns and incidents, assist with corrective actions and follow-up mechanisms, and ensure communication of relevant information to management.
  • Ensure that HR files and records are maintained in accordance with legal requirements and Company policies and procedures in California
  • Maintain knowledge of industry trends, both in marketing/advertising and general human resources
  • Manage the full-cycle recruitment process for all open positions from the development of job descriptions through the on-boarding process
  • Develop and guide staff through the annual performance review process
  • Work with staffing agencies as needed – negotiate rates and manage relationship with outside vendors
  • Maintain and report crucial metrics to Senior Management including recruitment, engagement, diversity, turnover, etc.
  • Respond to general benefits questions and assist in benefits administration, including but not limited to medical, dental, vision, 401k, and COBRA
  • Oversee HR systems and recruitment platforms including Indeed, Glassdoor and others, personality testing, background checks, and employee engagement software
  • Consult with legal counsel to ensure organizational compliance
  • Partner with VP, Finance and Operations regarding budgets, space planning, etc.
  • Partner with the CEO to coordinate company-wide Town Hall meetings with the goal of employee communication and inspiration
  • Work directly with department managers to assist them in carrying out their responsibilities on personnel matters
  • Participate in networking opportunities to continue to develop an active pipeline of candidates
  • Participate on committees and special projects
  • Maintain payroll, PTO, and employee information in Paylocity
  • Other duties as needed



Qualifications and Education Requirements

  • BA/BS degree in Business, Human Resources, Communications, or related field
  • 10+ years of progressive Human Resources experience
  • SPHR Certification
  • Experience in all aspects of Human Resources including, but not limited to, benefits, talent acquisition, learning and development, organizational development, compensation, and employee relations
  • Ability and desire to work in a fast-paced and ever-changing environment
  • Exceptional organization and time management skills
  • Proven ability to develop and execute employee programs including a learning and development process
  • Strong business acumen and problem-solving skills
  • Results driven with a high sense of urgency; skilled at managing and facilitating change and is change agile
  • Possess high levels of initiative, innovation and can manage multiple priorities effectively
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint

Preferred Skills/Certifications:

  • Experience working with Paylocity
  • Experience working in the furniture industry
  • Experience working in office and warehouse environments
