The Position:

Are you an experienced HR leader with a talent for strategic execution and operational excellence?

Become Howard Center's new Director of Human Resources. This leader oversees the HR team (currently 12 staff members) and is responsible for the development and execution of department strategies, objectives and metrics aligned with Howard Center's strategic intent. The HR Director oversees all aspects of Human Resources practice and process including compensation and benefits, recruitment and retention, training and development, employee and labor relations, policy development, and regulatory compliance.  Present priorities include ensuring all of these functional areas are aligned with and supportive of the agency's ongoing strategic integration of client service programs and the agency's commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion. The HR Director provides strategic human resources advice and counsel to agency leadership and serves as liaison with external entities include other agencies, organizations, committees, task forces, etc.

Requirements

Required Experience:

  • 3 years in leadership position
  • 5 years HR experience in a similar role with similar degree of responsibilities for an organization of comparable size and complexity
  • Experience with a variety of HR disciplines including employee relations, performance management, recruitment, resource planning, compensation, employee engagement, benefits, and learning/development
  • A proven track record of effective decision making
  • Effective research and analytic skills with the ability to draw conclusions and provide solid recommendations
  • Experience engaging all levels of an organization in a collaborative and confident style that engenders credibility
  • Experience implementing strategic organizational change
  • Demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion
  • Bachelors degree in related field

Preferred Experience, Competencies and Education:

  • Union/Labor Relations
  • HRIS software
  • Master's Degree in Human Resources Management or related field
  • SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP
