Gates Hudson is a private real estate investment and management company specializing in the management of office, industrial buildings, shopping centers, HOA's, Condominiums and multi-family apartment properties in Virginia, Maryland, West Virginia, and Washington, DC. 

We are a fast growing company with over 650 employees looking for an experiences Director of Human Resources to take us to the next level. The ideal candidate will be a hands-on manager who is able to multi-task in a high volume, fast paced environment. 

Responsibilities:

  • Plan, develop, organize and implement the organization’s overall human resources strategy and the HR function’s daily operations for payroll, benefits, safety, employee relations, and employee onboarding, while sustaining credibility throughout the organization and ensuring alignment with organizational goals.
  • Assess, develop, and sustain systems that will improve the overall operation and effectiveness of the organization, especially in the areas of Payroll, Benefits, Safety, and Wellness
  • Evaluate procedures and technology solutions to improve HR processes.
  • Recruit, train, supervise, and develop HR department staff.
  • Provide leadership and consulting support to company managers and senior management staff
  • Establish and implement short- and long-range human resources goals, objectives, policies, and operating procedures.
  • Maintain current knowledge and understanding of regulations and new developments in applicable laws regarding human resources.
  • Develop, maintain and enforce applicable employee policies and procedures to comply with legal and regulatory policies/guidelines taking into account employee relations, sexual harassment, employee complaints, and employee equity matters.
  • Spearhead benefit related initiatives and committees, including Wellness, Safety, and 401(k) investments.
  • Partner with Accounting Department to ensure appropriate reporting, account reconciliation, and budgeting for HR related accounts.
  • Supervises the Payroll & Benefits Manager, Payroll Specialist, HR Admin, and HR Assistant

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree, preferably in Human Resources Management, Master’s degree preferred.
  • Human Resources professional certification (PHR, SPHR, SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP). 
  • Minimum ten (10) years of progressive business and human resources experience.
  • Supervisory experience, leading and developing a HR team.
  • Demonstrated skills in management and leadership of all Human Resources functions, strategy development and implementation and assessment and evaluation of program/system effectiveness.
  • Able to work effectively as a department lead as well as partner on key initiatives with the senior management team, demonstrate strategic, operational planning and execution skills and integrate HR, business and practical analysis.
  • Willingness to seek to foster an agile, collaborative HR business partner approach throughout the HR function, ensure alignment of HR strategy with business goals, creatively manage risk while meeting business objectives and place a high premium on internal client service and satisfaction.
  • Experience enhancing, developing, implementing, and enforcing policies and procedures of the organization.
  • Ability to handle ambiguity well and be adaptable and flexible as business needs change and evolve.
  • Excellent interpersonal communication and presentation skills as well as top notch organization, planning and delegation skills.
  • Knowledge of federal, state, and local employment, wage and salary laws and regulations.
  • Able to handle highly sensitive information with tact, diplomacy and complete confidentiality.
  • Working experience managing annual budgets.
  • Proficiency using Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Word).
  • Experience working in the Real Estate industry a plus.
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) a plus.
