Job Details

The Wesley Community is currently seeking a Director of Human Resources to provide leadership and guidance to Human Resource staff and other directors and managers. The Director of Human Resources plans, organizes and directs all aspects of the Human Resource function for the employment, compensation, benefits, and labor relations of employees of The Wesley Community. 


The Director of HR is directly accountable to the Chief Operations Officer.  



1. Participate in the development of objectives, personnel philosophy and strategic planning in relation to personnel programs and trends in human resource management.

2. Develop goals and objectives for the human resources department, initiate and administer specific programs in the various areas of human resources to manage compensation, benefits, employment and employee relations

3. Establish/recommend uniform employment policies and confer with department directors, supervisors and administrators to discuss improvement of working relations.  Monitor all dealings to see they are consistent with regard to employee relations.  Educate and inform department directors, supervisors and administrators on personnel policy and procedures and wage administration.   Consult with legal counsel on legal problems and compliance issues.

4. Oversee benefit services and other employer/employee programs.  Recommend changes in policies, procedures and benefits as they relate to human resources’ management, and to maintain employee and job stability.

5. Develop techniques and procedures and direct activities of recruitment and placement of employees.

6. Initiate and direct surveys related to turnover, wages, benefits, morale and other personnel consideration.

7. Communicate the goals and vision of the organization in understandable and measurable actions.  Communication also involves coaching and providing feedback that is specific and constructive for improvement.  Demonstrated ability to present ideas and information in a timely, concise, effective manner through written and oral forms.

8. Uses resources available that result in quality goal(s) achieved while staying within established guidelines and budget.  Assess established guidelines, processes and procedures, and allocate resources to correct the problem or request appropriate resources to get back on track for successful achievement.

9. Oversee in-service supervisory training programs to develop more effective relations between supervisors and staff; to include instruction to department directors, supervisors and administrators in training methods; assist other members of departments with specific training or employee problems.

10. Assure compliance in the area of human resources per regulatory and legal requirements.  Serve as Compliance Officer to the Compliance Committee

11. Maintain professional affiliations as appropriate and participate in professional activities to keep abreast of developments in health care administration and personnel field.

12. Review Workers’ Compensation claims with department directors and make recommendations for job placement.

Educational Requirements

1. A minimum of a Bachelor's Degree 

2. SHRM-SCP or SHRM-CP preferred


Experience Requirements

1. A minimum of 5 years of Human Resources professional experience

2. Experience in healthcare preferred
