Job Details

The Director of Human Resources is the chief human resources officer for the College. Under the general direction of the Vice President & General Counsel, the Director will be responsible for providing strategic leadership and direction surrounding all human resources initiatives and priorities for the College. Overall management responsibilities include recruitment, retention and employment services, benefits management and counseling, compensation, payroll, salary administration and classification, training and development, regulatory compliance and policy development, employee relations, and human resource information systems and records management. The Director manages a staff of six in support of approximately 680 full-time employees at the College's main campus in Springfield, Massachusetts and at 9 regional campuses across the United States.

Requirements

The successful candidate will possess a Bachelor's degree (Master's preferred) in a related field plus a minimum of eight years of progressively responsible human resources experience, with at least three years of leadership experience. Experience in an educational setting is preferred as well as a nationally-recognized human resources certification (e.g. SPHR). A strong record of initiative and action, excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication and relationship skills, and an ability to work well in a complex organization. Broad contemporary and technical knowledge of all human resources functions and technology, including the ability to successfully develop and implement short and long-term objectives, and implement human resources programs that reflect organizational goals. Ability to be an effective decision maker and creative problem solver. Demonstrated leadership with strong organizational skills with the ability to balance the daily operations of a human resources office with the strategic needs of the College.
