The Director oversees the human resources function for the Bridge Bank division of Western Alliance Bank. Under the direction of the Senior Vice President for Human Resources, the local Director will lead the Bank's HR activities by supporting Executive Management in the areas of employee relations, staffing, recruiting, compensation, benefits, performance management, compliance, training and development. The Director will also effectively plan, design, develop and execute HR initiatives and undertake special projects in support of the organization’s strategic goals; implement and maintain HR policies and procedures. They will act as the site leader and thought partner to the executive management team, and will have a commercially-focused mindset and help translate those issues to human resources capabilities.
The Director directs a small local team (1-3) of HR professionals. They are part of larger HR department with shared services (payroll, benefits, etc) administered from HQ in Phoenix.

Supervises human resources staff and provides direction and leadership necessary to meet service level standards and overcome obstacles. Manages expenses related to the division’s human resources activities; participates in the development of budgets, forecasts, and reconciliation of expenditures; assists executive management in the review, preparation and administration of the organization's discretionary bonus, and wage & salary programs
Collaborates on and drives a culture that supports high impact employee development; coaches and mentors managers on how to thoughtfully and successfully create meaningful, personalized development plans; influences the hiring and promotional decisions by keeping a pulse on the business, teams and the industry; provide coaching to business leaders on change management, compensation, retention, engagement, talent assessments, and performance management
Review and make recommendations to executive management for improvement of the organization's policies, procedures and practices on personnel matters; Communicates changes in the organization's policies and procedures and ensures that proper compliance is followed
Provides supervision to and directs the activities of human resources; performs supervisory tasks such as performance appraisals, disciplinary actions, and interviewing candidates for employment; develops work schedules; provides necessary training and coaching.
Bachelor’s degree from a four (4) year college or university preferred; 7-10 years progressively responsible experience in Human Resources leadership. Financial services experience desired but not required.
Proven ability to operate strategically and have a hands-on approach including building organizational talent and workforce plans. Successful implementation of operational and strategic HR programs and processes across a dispersed region.
Strong employee relations skills and employment law knowledge nationally and California.
Effective oral, written and interpersonal communication skills with the ability to apply common sense to carry out instructions, interpret documents, understand procedures, write reports and correspondence, and speak clearly to customers and employees.
