Job Details

This position is responsible for working effectively with department colleagues at all levels to create and maintain productive, employer-employee relationships while preventing and resolving workplace issues.  The Employee and Labor Relations Specialist is responsible for providing advice, consultation, research and direction to leaders and employees relative to all aspects of workplace concerns, to include the provisions of the  hospital's bargaining unit contracts.

 

Requirements

Required:

      ·       Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, business or related field.

  • Minimum of five years of direct employee relations and labor relations experience in a unionized setting.
  • High aptitude for careful review and interpretation of collective bargaining agreements and employment policies.
  • Demonstrated ability to interact constructively with senior and mid-level management.
  • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written.
  • Proven attention to detail; critical thinking and analytical skills.
  • Solid knowledge of federal and state employment laws, including but not limited to comprehensive labor laws, ADA, FLSA, etc.
  • The ability to build successful, working relationships in a combined union/non-union environment.
  • Microsoft Office, Excel and the ability to work with various databases.

 Preferred:

 

  • Advanced labor relations degree or certification.
  • Juris Doctor or Master's degree in Human Resources, business or related field.
