SUMMARY

Responsible for the development, coordination and implementation of training programs, employee services, and change management initiatives focused on the development of company staff.  The Specialist serves to provide a positive employee experience and company culture that emphasizes employees’ professional and personal growth, productivity and standards, goal attainment, and the recruitment and ongoing development of a superior workforce.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Develop and administer an effective recruitment program with an emphasis on hiring for fit and coordinate the recruitment efforts with hiring managers.
  • Design and coordinate the implementation of retention practices including competitive compensation, recognition/appreciation, team building activities, and morale improvement.
  • Ensures all engagement programs reach multi-generations, diverse employees, and various levels of education.
  • Assess the learning needs and collaborate on the design, development and delivery of solutions that drive employee engagement and retention as well as align employees with the organization’s culture, strategy and vision.
  • Function as an internal consultant to assess, measure, and enhance the performance of employees.
  • Assist in the design of standardized Orientation and On-boarding practices to include shadow training and peer mentorships.
  • Design Career Development initiatives to address current capabilities and future needs – including on-the-job operational training, department specialized and cross functional training, leadership development, new hire orientation, and internal career ladders.
  • Assist managers with the selection and contracting of external training programs and consultants.
  • Responsible for internal communication strategies and a positive Image Campaign to inspire “ownership” attitudes.
  • Oversees the overall production of internal communications, events and programs; including newsletters, educational videos, e-mails, Facebook, etc. for the purpose of communicating critical information to employees.
  • Determine and recommend employee relations practices necessary to establish a positive employer-employee relationship and promote a high level of employee morale and motivation.
  • Responsible for the design, oversight and implementation of personal employee enrichment programs and voluntary services.
  • Oversee the exit interview process, gather data to determine reasons behind separation, and follow up with recommendations to appropriate hiring managers.
  • Provide statistical and narrative analysis to management on leadership and management development programs, participation and effectiveness.
  • Conduct employee satisfaction surveys, along with the VP of HR, and report results, analysis, and recommendations to the management team.

Assignments involve work of a confidential nature, necessitating exposure to sensitive information and contacts thereby requiring considerable discretion, judgment, tact and diplomacy.

Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business with a focus on Human Resources or equivalent.
  • 3-5 years’ leadership experience in Human Resources, Organizational Development, Employee Engagement or equivalent combination of education and experience required. 
  • Certification in Myers Briggs, DiSC, and/or other Emotional Intelligence products preferred.
  • SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP Preferred

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Outgoing and energetic personality.
  • Ability to multi-task while being detail-oriented.
  • Advanced computer skills.
  • Experience with MS Office Word, Excel, and PowerPoint preferred.
