Superior Grocers, a leading independent grocery chain is looking for a Human Resources Generalist/Employee Relations Specialist for our corporate office in Santa Fe Springs.


Position Summary:

 

Responsible for servicing Superior stores with employee related issues and Human Resources needs. This includes being able to interpret company policies and procedures; interface with all levels of management on a day to day basis, provide guidance to employees, and maintain proper documentation related with employee issues to be in compliance with California laws. Position reports to the Human Resources Manager.

 

Roles & Responsibilities:

  1. Support Store Management in providing guidance with all voluntary/involuntary resignations to properly terminate employees making sure that all documentation is in order. This is done on a daily basis.
  2. Input voluntary and involuntary terminations into the Kronos system on a daily basis.
  3. Assist the Store Manager with employee Disciplinary Actions as needed making sure that all pertinent information is noted on the Disciplinary Action Form.
  4. Review and translate affidavits as needed and investigate allegations made by employees.
  5. Work closely with Loss Prevention Dept. as it pertains to employee investigations when necessary.
  6. Compile and submit documentation for Unemployment Claims as well as Unemployment Hearings to the third party administrator.
  7. Meet with employees as needed to assist them with employment questions or concerns.
  8. Consult and follow-up with store management and District Managers in regards to employee related issues.
  9. Recommend changes in policies and procedures as necessary.
  10. When necessary, assist with support of HRIS system.
  11. Visit designated stores when needed.
  12. Assist with performance evaluation processing & store transfers when necessary
  13. Develop and maintain positive employee relations
  14. Conduct and develop investigation process; recommend final resolution
  15. Ensure that policies & procedures are administered consistently and fairly.
  16. Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

Job Requirements:

Education:

  • This position requires a BA degree or comparable work experience in Human Resources.      
  • A Human Resources Certification is also highly desired.

Experience:

  • Require at least Three (3) to five (5) years of experience.

Knowledge:

  • This position requires general knowledge of labor law practices.
  • Efficient in Word, Excel and Power Point.

Skills and Ability:

  • Ability to organize and prioritize tasks to meet the demand of work deadlines. Able to maintain good working relationships with co-workers-supervisor, management and department heads.
  • Ability to identify issues and make the necessary corrections effectively.
  • Spanish/English Bilingual required, with ability to translate written documents (affidavits).
