New York Institute of Technology seeks an entry level HR professional to join NYIT as an HR Assistant. In this highly visible role the successful candidate will be exposed to every area of Human Resources from office support to employee relations, hiring and onboarding.


Include but are not limited to

  • Act as the first point of contact for all HR visitors
  • Responsible for completion of new hire paperwork and distribution to appropriate areas.
  • Ensure the accuracy and completeness of employee records.
  • Conduct background checks and monitor results for possible issues that need to be addressed by the Director ¿ HR.
  • Enter requisitions and manage invoices.
  • Monitor the budget to ensure that appropriate lines are charged.
  • Office maintenance including ordering supplies, contacting service central, and scheduling of the conference room.
  • Mange the annual Employee Service Awards. Includes working with HRIS and others to identify the recipients, contacting the vendor for pins and certificates, working with deSeversky to book the space and set the menu, work with the Assistant to the President to produce the President’s letter, etc.
  • Scan, file and organize personnel folders – when needed pull information from imaging software for department
  • Responsible for compliance with local laws and regulation and perform other duties as assigned.




  • Bachelor’s Degree required; preferably in Human Resources, Psychology or Business related
  • 1-2 years of Administrative office experience in the field of Human Resources
  • Ability to present information clearly to a variety of audiences
  • Excellent written, oral and communication skills
  • Excellent computer skills required; ability to create or maintain excel spreadsheets
  • Extraordinary level of professionalism and customer service skills is required
  • Ability to handle a high level of confidentiality
