The College Board, a national educational organization, is conducting a search for an HR Associate - Operations & Initiatives for the New York, NY office


The Associate, reporting to and working closely with the Vice President, Human Resources is responsible for tracking, supporting, and facilitating Human Resource initiatives to successful completion. The Associate Director will build relationships, interact, and work closely with a broad set of employees from the College Board. She/he will represent the VP on a regular basis to others in the organization and is a pro-active problem-solver and facilitator, using solid judgment and discretion at all times

The Associate Director will assist members of the HR team in day-to-day activities during peak periods of activity. This position keeps the lines of communication open ensuring that the VP is well informed and prepared for meetings, events, and other activities


  • Provide executive assistance and special project support to the VP and supporting other individuals in Human Resources
  • Perform a variety of project management tasks that focus on tracking, and sometimes managing, key initiatives on behalf of the VP; includes establishing timelines and delegating assignments; coordinating project deliverables with other departments/divisions/consultants; and evaluating and updating project status for reporting and decision making, recommending adjustments
  • Ensure that all VP initiatives are appropriately prioritized resourced and on-track, focusing on coordination of cross-functional work streams, data collection and maintenance, and management of preparation for speaking engagements
  • Work with VP to develop regular communications to keep employees informed about divisional priorities, successes, and other developments
  • Serve as a resource to and provide additional support to members of the HR team on talent acquisition, performance management, compensation, benefits, engagement and other functions when required
  • Draft, proofread, and edit correspondence, emails, presentations, and other documents for the VP
  • Undertake special projects, including but not limited to the development of key presentations, the evaluation of proposals, and the preparation of background reports on key topics
  • Manage VP's preparation for meetings and works closely with the HR leadership team, as needed to prepare presentation materials and ensure timely and effective follow-up to meetings
  • Perform a variety of key support tasks as needed, which may include responding to requests for information, monitoring the divisional and program budgets, preparing divisional communications, researching topics and drafting summaries


  • Bachelor's degree in HR, organizational psychology, or industrial relations highly preferred
  • Minimum of 4+ years of related work experience that requires project management skills, keen organizational skills, Human Resource management, analytical skills and superior communications skills
