The HR compliance specialist will have primary responsibility for HR compliance activities that span all SanMar locations including, I-9/E-verify, Affirmative Action planning and reporting, pre-employment screening, and federal/state/local labor law and posting requirements.

  • Lead and evaluate compliance programs including but not limited to: EEO-1 Reporting, Affirmative Action Planning, FLSA status reviews and documentation, Background Checks, and Drug Screening (DOT and Non-DOT).
  • Administer programs and duties related to I-9 Management.
  • Review state and local laws for employees in all states in which we have employees present, and recommend appropriate actions or communications.
  • Oversee and maintain the corporate employee files.
  • Partner across departments to represent HR in programs such as C-TPAT, IT Policy, and PCI Guideline.
  • Monitor car insurance requirements for SanMar employees on the sales team.
  • Conduct regular internal audits of system data related to recruiting outreach, progress towards hiring benchmarks and utilization goals.
  • Prepare presentations & communicate to HR partners and hiring managers of AAP related information and updates.
  • Responsible for completion of compliance reporting for federal, state and local municipalities when required.
  • Completion of corporate unemployment documentation.
  • Support activities and projects to assist a wide variety of leaders, and employees both locally and remote.
  • Special projects, front reception desk back-up support and other duties as assigned.



  • Proven ability to effectively influence, build trust, communicate and connect with all employees at all levels of the company and outside resources.
  • Ability to demonstrate in-depth knowledge of pertinent laws and compliance issues.
  • Ability to demonstrate confidentiality and discretion.
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills.
  • Self-motivated team player, that is able to think creatively while solving complex situations.
  • Excellent organizational, multi-tasking and prioritization skills.
  • Strong business acumen that is people focused.


  • Bachelor’s Degree in related field required.
  • 2-5 years of Human Resources experience preferred.
  • PHR, or SHRM-CP preferred.
  • Must live and work out of Washington State.
