The HR Generalist manages the administration of human resource policies, procedures and programs. Responsibilities are focused in the following functional areas: employment and orientation/on-boarding, benefit administration and compliance, training and development, employee relations, safety and workers compensation, compliance and employment law, and human resources metrics.



  • Facilitate the recruiting and hiring practices and procedures necessary to recruit and hire a superior workforce including employment regulatory compliance.
  • Assist in developing and maintaining employee orientation/on-boarding and training programs.
  • Ensures company compliance with all existing governmental and labor legal and government reporting requirements.
  • Assists in the design, implementation and management of various benefit offerings.
  • Ensures compliance in all areas of responsibility, including required reporting (ACA, 5500’s, etc…).
  • Assists in defining training programs. Provides necessary education and materials to managers and employees including workshops, manuals, employee handbooks, and standardized reports.
  • Assist in the formulation and recommendation of Human Resource policies and objectives for the company with regard to employment practices and employee relations.
  • Facilitates employee relations practices necessary to establish a positive employer-employee relationship and promote a high level of employee morale and motivation.
  • Interfaces directly with employees having workplace or personal issues. Responds to questions and assists employees with issues and how to utilize resources and tools available to them.
  • Ensure all appropriate paperwork is processed accurately and timely for new hires, promotions, transfers, demotions and terminations.
  • Monitors and advises managers and supervisors in the progressive discipline system of the company.
  • Monitors the implementation of a performance improvement process with non-performing employees.
  • Monitor and report Human Resource metrics for employment, workforce stability, on-boarding, etc.

  • Broad knowledge and experience in employment law, employee relations, and employee benefits.
  • Working knowledge of benefit related strategy/design concepts, and associated compliance and reporting requirements.
  • Recruitment experience, including knowledge and application of best practices and recruiting techniques, thorough understanding of current electronic mediums, and recruitment sources.
  • Above average oral and written communication skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal and coaching skills.
  • Advanced computer skills in a Microsoft Windows environment to include Outlook, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Knowledge and practical use of HRIS systems (ADP preferred), and experience with database management and record keeping requirements.
  • Experience in the administration of employment, training and other Human Resources programs.
  • Evidence of the practice of a high level of confidentiality.
  • Excellent organizational skills.

Education and Experience:

  • Minimum of a Bachelor's degree or the equivalent in Human Resources, Business, and Organization Development experience including 5 or more years of progressive leadership experience in Human Resources positions.
  • Professional Certification in Human Resources a plus.
  • Specialized training in employment law, compensation, organizational planning, organization development, employee relations, safety, training, and preventive labor relations, preferred.
  • Knowledge of benefit related compliance and reporting requirements.
  • Active affiliation with appropriate Human Resources networks and organizations and ongoing community involvement, preferred.
  • Possess ongoing affiliations with leaders in successful companies and organizations that practice effective Human Resources Management.
