Job Details

McFarland Cascade seeks a qualified candidate for an HR Generalist to sit in Montevallo, AL.  The position is responsible for performing HR-related duties on a professional level and works closely with HR Manager in supporting designated geographic regions. This position carries out responsibilities in the following functional areas: benefits administration, employee relations, training, performance management, onboarding, policy implementation, recruitment/employment, affirmative action and employment law compliance.


  • Post open positions, review resumes, schedule interviews and updates information on all recruiting websites. Perform pre-screen interviews. Serves as point of contact for candidates.

  • Coordinates staffing functions between department managers and agencies.

  • Provides interview guides and collects completed guides from hiring panels.

  • Plans and conducts new hire orientation.

  • Responsible for data entry of employee information in HRIS/Payroll system and benefits portal; ensures all changes are supported with proper documentation.

  • Scans documents and maintains files with timely updates.

  • Responsible for annual government reporting; i.e., Vets 100, Affirmative Action.

  • Assists with payroll as needed.

  • Ensures time and attendance tracking and approvals are completed on time.

  • Assists in administering employee policies.

  • Provides advice and service to management on daily employee relations and performance management issues.

  • Responsible for providing monthly HR reporting and statistics.

  • Responds to inquiries regarding health insurance, dental insurance, life insurance, 401k, or EAP.

  • Prepares employee separation notices and related documentation and conducts exit interviews.

  • Assist in special projects: handbook, retreats, trainings, update internal HR processes & forms, open enrollment, etc.




  • Bachelor’s degree and 3 years HR experience

  • SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP preferred

  • Bilingual/fluent in Spanish preferred

  • Understanding of ADP or comparable HRIS
