Penske Media is expanding its Human Resources team with the addition of a new HR Generalist position in our NYC office. In this role, you will partner with the entire HR team to create, establish, and implement HR strategies that foster organization and people development across our domestic and international operations.

Job description

  • Benefits Administration: Assist with the coordination of medical, dental, vision, FSA, life insurance and long term disability benefits via a third party benefits support platform. Serve as primary contact for employee related benefit concerns. Assist with the coordination of annual company-wide open enrollment meetings.

  • Employee Relations: Provide exceptional customer service, both internally and externally, by exhibiting a high sense of urgency, exceptional follow through, and positive communications both verbally and in writing; Able to answer general employee questions and/or guide them to proper resource for further support; Develop relationships of trust and provide a positive, helpful and collaborative environment where employees feel welcome; Pro-actively seek to ensure employees and the business have needed support; Provide support as needed in the investigation of employee matters; Be the eyes and ears of the organization to support a positive culture.

  • Partner with corporate recruiting on internship training and “lunch and learn” discussions.

  • Compliance: Manage all NYC leaves of absence, working with employees and supervisors to complete required leave paperwork in compliance with state and federal law as well as PMC’s corporate leave policy; Work with outside counsel for immigration and visa processing; Support compliance by pro-actively identifying any areas of potential non-compliance; Manage data management across the department.

Requirements

 

Required Qualifications and Education

  • General HR knowledge and experience in the areas of employee relations, employee benefits, performance management, and training, with the ability to incorporate applicable employment Federal, State, and Local laws and HR industry best practices.

  • Possesses both strategic thinking capability and “hands on” HR plan implementation experience.

  • Proven ability to work independently and effectively in deadline-oriented environment, with critical attention to detail.

  • Experience handling matters of confidentiality with utmost tact and diplomacy.

  • Exceptional interpersonal, oral and business writing communication skills, including a strong telephone presence, always with a high level of professionalism and courtesy.

  • Working knowledge of leave administration and workers comp background preferred.

  • Strong experience with Microsoft Office applications, including Excel capability for vlookups, pivot tables and other useful tools.

  • Knowledge and experience with HR management systems and other HR software applications to track information and generate reports.

  • Positive attitude, self-motivated with a teamwork mentality and passion for customer service.

  • Bachelor's Degree in Human Resource Management, Business Administration or related field and a minimum of three to five (3-5) years of direct human resources experience.

  • CHRP or PHR qualification is a bonus.
