The Human Resources Generalist will support HR functions in all Northern California restaurants and primarily work from the San Francisco Airport.

Shared HR Department Responsibilities:  

  • Work with both HR and Operations Team to ensure compliance for all Northern California restaurant locations.
  • Collaborate with Director Teams on-site to support employee relations.
  • Manage full cycle of recruitment, including develop and post job ads, coordinate and conduct interviews, reference checks, extend offer letters and new hire paperwork/orientation
  • Manage employee benefits, COBRA enrollments, changes, terminations and conduct open enrollment
  • Ensure legal compliance with Federal, State and local laws
  • Advise and assist Operations Team on performance management, coaching, proper disciplinary actions and terminations
  • Help facilitate workers compensation and leaves of absence claims
  • Maintain and audit employee files, I-9 forms, and HR documentation

Working Conditions: 

  • Typical hours are Monday through Friday from 9:00am to 5:00pm
  • Ability to perform limited local travel to different site locations - proof of valid driver’s license will be required after hire 
  • Ability to sit, stand and walk for extended periods of time
  • Repetitive hand motion for extended periods of time

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • A minimum of two years working in a Human Resources role
  • Ability to interact with people at all levels and develop rapport with individuals in different restaurant locations.
  • Must be passionate about learning and collaborating with various teams
  • Active listening skills and problem solving skills
  • Ability to anticipate needs and problems and to exercise good judgment and decision-making
  • Strong work ethic, interpersonal, organizational, and oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality
  • Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and work effectively
  • Must be able to work both as a team player and independently
  • Must have flexibility within work schedule to work at multiple locations
  • Proficient in MS Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • Knowledge of applicable Federal,California and local labor laws
  • Experience working in a union environment, a plus 
  • Bachelor’s degree or HR Certification preferred
