This is a unique opportunity for a strong HR professional to act as the primary HR Business Partner to the District Manager, who oversees approximately 10 ShopRite stores in an assigned region.

Working closely with the HR function to support the client group in a designated geographic region, this position is accountable for leading in the following functional areas: HR compliance, employee relations, training, performance management, on-boarding, policy implementation, recruitment/employment, affirmative action, workplace investigations, and employment law compliance.


Minimum Required Qualifications:
The minimum required qualifications for this position include, but are not limited to, the following:

Required Education and Experience

  • Familiarity with federal, local and state labor laws for area of regional responsibility 
  • A bachelor's degree in any field, plus three- to five years of HR generalist experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, plus three years of HR experience is ideal.
  • …OR a master's degree (including MBA) plus two years of experience in the HR field
  • …OR eight to 10 years of relevant experience in an HR-related field
  • PHR certification is a plus.


  • At least 3 years of generalist Human Resources experience.
  • Must have ability to keep information confidential and handle situations appropriately.
  • Knowledge of HR fundamentals such as benefits, compensation, staffing, employee relations, labor relations, diversity and inclusion, training and development
  • Demonstrated ability to apply employment law to workplace issues
  • Demonstrated experience in applying performance management practices
  • Demonstrated ability to consult effectively and independently with all levels of a diverse organization
  • Strong communication and analytical skills
  • Ability to work in a team environment while managing and executing tasks with multiple conflicting priorities
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Ability to Travel is required for this position.


Essential Job Functions:
Performance of these functions requires the Associates to possess the minimum qualifications listed above. The essential functions of this position include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Human Resources Management: For stores in assigned district, maintain compliance with federal, state and local employment and benefits laws and regulations. Ensure policies relating to all phases of human resources activities to include, but not limited to, pre-employment testing, hiring, orientation, legal and skills training, complaint resolution (harassment, workplace violence, and discrimination), progressive discipline guidance, and associate recognition programs.
  • Management Support: Assist Store Directors, District Managers and Support Staff by supporting the needs of the business, identifying and resolving problems and providing feedback. In partnership with Store Management, embrace and create a culture of continuous change, innovation and improvement in Associate Engagement Metrics (AEM) and Customer Experience Metrics (CEM).
  • Hiring & Onboarding: recruiting, interviewing, and the selection process of new associates to fill vacant positions. This includes job fairs, new store openings and recommendations for new avenues in recruiting. Support the local store resources in conducting new-hire orientations
  • Associate Development: Help shape and monitor career-pathing program. Oversee People on the Move Program for the region to develop associates to assist in succession planning. May be asked to conduct training programs in the assigned geography
  • Associate Relations / Labor Relations: May conduct investigations and recommend solutions on harassment, workplace violence and discrimination complaints in a union environment. Handle employee relations counseling, discipline and termination meetings, and exit interviewing for the assigned geography.


Adhere and comply with all store rules, company policies, safety requirements, security standards and all local, state, federal, health and civil code regulations.
