Job Description

The Human Resources Manager will be directly responsible for all HR practices and objectives that will provide an employee-oriented, high performance atmosphere that emphasizes quality, productivity, goal attainment, and the recruitment and ongoing development of a superior workforce. This position is responsible for performing HR-related duties on a professional level and works closely with executive management. The HR Manager carries out responsibilities in the following functional areas: benefits administration, employee relations, training, performance management, onboarding, policy implementation, recruitment/employment, affirmative action and employment law compliance.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities 

  • Administers various human resource plans and procedures for all organization personnel; assists in the development and implementation of personnel policies and procedures; prepares and maintains the employee handbook and the policies and procedures manual
  • Coordinates medical, dental, vision and disability insurance enrollments and communicates with service providers concerning routine administration of programs and other tasks as necessary
  • Communicates HR policies, procedures, legal rules and regulations and maintains compliance with federal and state regulations concerning employment
  • Prepares job requirements and job descriptions for all positions
  • Conducts recruitment efforts, reviews and screens resumes, interviews candidates, coordinates pre-employment screenings and prepares offer letters
  • Coordinates and conducts new hire onboarding and training
  • Manages employee data, maintains appropriate employee files, and processes status changes to ensure employee records are up to date
  • Provides guidance to management and employees including: investigating employee complaints, resolving employee conflicts and advising on appropriate actions
  • Manages benefits annual enrollment process by facilitating meetings, answering employee questions and ensuring employees are enrolled as needed
  • Conducts exit interviews
  • Assists in evaluation of reports, decisions and results of department in relation to established goals. Recommends new approaches, policies and procedures to continually improve efficiency of the department and services performed.
  • Provides training for new and current employees on communication systems, including telephone and voicemail
  • Safety coordinator, responsible for implementing and maintaining the Injury and Illness Prevention Program
  • Other duties, as assigned

Requirements

Qualifications, Education and Experience Requirements

  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Good organizational skills
  • Extensive computer skills –Microsoft Office, experience in Kronos a plus
  • Must possess a high level of integrity and the demonstrated ability to handle sensitive and confidential information in a professional manner
  • Must possess strong planning and organizational skills, ability to manage multiple tasks, meet deadlines and respond to changing priorities
  • High level of interpersonal skills to handle sensitive and confidential situations and documentation
  • Knowledge of office administration procedures
  • Ability to operate most standard office equipment
  • Ability to adopt new technologies as they emerge

Education and/or Experience

  • Bachelor degree in Human Resources or a related field OR 3-5 years (California employment laws) equivalent experience in HR
  • PHR/SPHR or SHRM-CP/SCP preferred
