Position: Human Resources Supervisor                     Salary:  Negotiable

Responsible for the delivery of human resources services in support of the Coast Guard’s Nonappropriated Fund (NAF) workforce. Ensures compliance with applicable laws and Coast Guard policy and procedures. Provides guidance, consultation, and support on a wide variety of personnel issues to managers and supervisory personnel concerning HR policy, performance management and employee relations.  Performs a variety of duties that require the application of the full range of personnel theories, principles, methods and techniques.




Supervises the Command’s Human Resources Generalists; Provides coaching and mentoring ensuring all appropriate deadlines are met and all policies and procedures are followed (e.g. processing of personnel actions, including new hires, transfers, promotions, termination, and completion of unemployment claims).




Classifies positions and prepares position descriptions.




Advises and assists management on a continuing basis to find sound solutions to problems in support of personnel needs of the organization. Disseminates information on which recommendations, decisions or other actions can be based; explains the basis for recommendations and actions.




Ensures the highest standards of total quality and customer service are maintained.   Acts to solve problems quickly.  Alerts the supervisor for help when problems arise. 




Responsible for the timely delivery of employee orientation and onboarding (e.g. introducing personnel, employment benefits, policies, and assist with enrollment forms, etc.).




Assists the HR Director or Assistant Director in the administration of the compensation plan to include pay equity and salary review.




Performs other related duties.











  1. Four (4) years of HR experience. An Associate’s Degree in the HR or a related field may be substituted for 2 years of experience

  2. One (1) year of supervisory/leadership experience

  3. HRIS experience

  4. This is a white-collar position where occasional lifting of up to 20 lbs may be required








  1. Prior NAF HR experience

  2. Employee Relations experience

  3. Classification experience

  4. HR-related certification

  5. Five (5) years HR experience. A Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources Management (or related field) can be substituted for three (3) years of experience.
















  • Selectee will be required to participate in Direct Deposit/Electronic Funds Transfer as the Standard method of payment for payroll and travel purposes.

  • Males born after 12/31/59 and at least 18 years of age must be registered with the Selective Service System, unless covered by an exemption under the Selective Service Law, in accordance with 5 U.S. Code 3378. Selectee will be required to provide a written statement regarding his registration status, unless he is exempted by this statute.

  • Must satisfactorily complete a Federal Background check
