The Washington DC office of Finnegan, one of the world's leading and largest intellectual property law firms, is seeking a HRIS/Benefits Specialist to join our dynamic HR department. This position will assist the Chief HR Officer and Benefits Manager in all facets of the firm's HRIS/Benefits management.

Responsibilities include: serving as the primary administrator for the HR department’s electronic data; managing all HR and personnel data in the HR system; integrating data with Payroll systems as appropriate; serving as liaison to Payroll Dept regarding benefit deduction adjustments and Payroll Dept regarding data changes and   HRIS/Payroll system integration issues; processing new hire benefits enrollments/follow-ups and COBRA reinstatements and terms; FSA administration; identifing and recommending improvements in efficiency of HRIS processes; facilitating HRIS system setup for annual open enrollment process; making recommendations on workflow processes within HRIS system and generating efficiencies in HR processes; training managers and employees on HRIS Dashboards and workflow methods; responding to requests for information for surveys; preparing routine and ad-hoc reports, such as monthly EEO/diversity, management, vendor and client reports; serving as emergency backup for payroll and timesheet processing; reviewing weekly carrier error files to determine course of action; providing guidance and counseling on benefits available to employees; reconciling and processing monthly voluntary benefits invoices for payment and other projects as assigned.

Successful candidates must have a Bachelor’s degree in Business, or Human Resources or equivalent years of relevant experience and three to five years of HR, Benefits, and/or HRIS experience preferably in a law firm or other professional services firm. A proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, a working knowledge of online research, advanced Excel skills, including formulas, data importing/exporting data to/from Excel, pivot tables and charts, experience with HRIS/payroll software (preferably Ceridian products), writing queries, report writing, and data manipulation is required. Excellent communication, interpersonal and presentation skills, ability to organize and prioritize multiple tasks, meet strict deadlines, recognize potential problems and proactively suggest ways to mitigate them and anticipate needs is also required.
