Markey’s Rental & Staging, a multi-state company serving clients across the United States, as well as internationally, is seeking a highly trained and proven effective leader to head-up our Human Resource Department. Markey’s is headquartered in Indianapolis, IN., with offices in Ohio, Iowa, Florida, and Texas and employs approximately 225 people. Markey’s is a leading provider of creative audio-visual services whose clients include corporations, national and international associations, and convention hotels. The HR Director will be based at the headquarters building in Indianapolis, IN. and will report directly to the President of Markey’s Rental & Staging. Working on the Leadership Team, this person will help shape and fulfill the strategic objectives of the Company. Specifically, this position will be responsible for successfully fulfilling all human resource needs, including but not limited to:

  •  Employee Relations/HR Business Partnering
  •  Employee Engagement
  •  Compensation
  •  Benefit Administration and Design
  •  Payroll Administration
  •  Talent Management/Employee  Development/Career Planning
  •  Company Policies/Employee Handbook
  •  Safety Program/OSHA
  •  Talent Acquisition
  •  ERISA/DOL/ACA/Wage & Hour/FMLA/ADA/Worker’s Compensation/Unemployment
  •  Federal/State/Local Government Reporting Requirements

The successful candidate should have most of the following skills, education, experience, and abilities:

  • Seven (7) years of human resource experience with at least three (3) years of those years serving in an HR or Operational Management capacity
  •  Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources, Management/Administration, or related field of study
  •  HR Professional Certification, such as SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP member; PHR or SPHR
  •  Excellent understanding of employment law and federal requirements
  •  Experience working with requirements relating to ERISA, DOL, ACA, OSHA, FMLA, ADA, Worker’s Compensation, state unemployment
  •  Previous responsibility of overseeing/developing training programs for management and employees
  •  Conflict resolution
  •  ESOP knowledge, preferably gained by working in an ESOP environment
  •  The ability to travel to other offices and work sites
  •  Creative thinker to align HR strategies with business strategies

  •  Adept in analysis and derives data based decisions
  •  In terms of decision-making, is proactive with a problem solving orientation while minimizing risks; this person is disciplined and makes timely decisions based on knowledge and experience;
  •  Leadership style is collaborative with a willingness to make decisions based on specialized expertise and knowledge of systems; directive leadership is necessary in order to meet established quality and time standards; some delegation of routine details is necessary, with opportunity for close follow up
  •  Must be able to learn quickly and keep up-to-date on the latest federal and state regulations and requirements
