The human resource generalist performs duties at the professional level in some or all the following functional areas: employee relations, training, employment, affirmative action and employment equity program, benefits management, and payroll functions. This position requires an extremely perceptive person who can relate to individuals at all levels within the organization. The generalist must be sensitive to corporate needs, employee goodwill and the business needs.



Recruitment & Onboarding

  • Acts as liaison between CVP hospital management and recruitment firms; identifying staffing needs and specifics and managing the search process with outside resources when necessary.
  • Assists in the recruitment effort for all exempt and nonexempt personnel, students and temporary employees; conducts new-employee orientations; and writes and places advertisements.
  • Acts as liaison between industry organizations, professional membership organizations, alumni associations, and applicable educational institutions to build the CVP brand through career fair participation, job board posting, internship/co-op program participation, etc.
  • Maintains a pipeline of candidates and recruitment logs for OFCCP compliance and reporting.
  • Manages the CVP employee referral program.


Compensation & Benefits

  • Acts as a cross-trained backup to the Payroll Manager.
  • Monitors employee eligibility for benefits plans.
  • Maintains and distributes list of new and cancelled employees under each benefit plan.
  • Verifies benefit billing accuracy and works with the Staff Accountant to process payment.
  • Assists with the annual open enrollment communications and election process.
  • Administers COBRA for group health plans.
  • Manages the FMLA process.


  • Develops and maintains affirmative action program; assists the HR Director in filing the EEO-1 report annually; and maintains other records, reports and logs to conform to EEO regulations.
  • Assists the HR Director with compliance of federal, state and local employment and benefits laws and regulations.
  • Ensures all workers' compensation case files are properly recorded in the HRMS and reported in annual OSHA reporting.

Retention Programs

  • Distributes and monitors employee performance evaluation forms, tracks and reports on their completion to the Operations team.
  • Conducts exit interviews, analyzes data and makes recommendations to the management team for corrective action and continuous improvement.
  • Assists in special employee morale projects with the Operations team and Practice Managers.

Other tasks and special projects may be assigned as deemed necessary.



The ideal candidate will possess a bachelor's degree and three to five years of HR experience or seven years of experience in the HR field, or any similar combination of education and experience.



PHR and/or SHRM-CP certification or ability to obtain certification within 12 months of hire date.

To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of ADP Workforce now or applicable HRMS experience; MS Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).



Limited travel (>25%) may occur.
