Human Resource Manager (Full Time)

ABOUT US:The Glenview Park District is an independent local government agency that provides beautiful parks and outstanding recreational opportunities for the residents of Glenview, IL and beyond. Major facilities include a 170,000 sq. ft. community center, three water parks, an 18-hole golf course with clubhouse and restaurant, a 9-hole golf course with platform tennis, a tennis club, an ice center, a 1920s dairy farm, an 1850s nature/history center, and newly renovated administrative offices. The District has over 100 full time employees, 300 year round part time employees and another 500 summer / temporary employees.

JOB SUMMARY: The Human Resource Manager reports to the Deputy Executive Director and has district-wide responsibility for performing, assisting with or overseeing the following areas: HR planning and strategy; job design and organizational structure; recruitment and selection; onboarding; training and development; employee relations and communications; internal investigations and documentation; performance management, disciplinary actions and terminations; unemployment compensation; legal compliance and auditing; employment policy development and writing; HRIS and records management; compensation analysis; benefits administration; employee wellness; payroll administration (in-house, bi-weekly); and risk management. This position directly oversees two full time and two part time employees.

QUALIFICATIONS:Qualified candidates must have a bachelor’s degree in human resources, industrial psychology, or related field along with at least 5 years’ related work experience. SHRM-CP designation strongly preferred. The best candidates will have a strong knowledge of federal and state employment laws; the ability to establish and sustain positive relationships; a calm, friendly and approachable demeanor; a high level of confidentiality and trustworthiness; excellent writing and messaging skills; excellent leadership skills, tact and diplomacy; outstanding communication skills; critical thinking; creativity and innovation; and a belief in the value of the parks and recreation field. (Note: No residency requirement for employment.)

SCHEDULING & PAY:This is a full-time year-round supervisory level position. Hours are generally Monday through Friday 8:30am – 5pm, plus additional evening and weekend work as required. Target hiring range is mid $70’s to mid $80’s DOQ (depending on qualifications).
