Human Resources Manager

 

HR generalist in a highly entrepreneurial, heavily unionized work environment. Headquartered in Central NJ, the company is engaged in trucking, distribution and manufacturing businesses servicing the food industry.  Position reports to HR VP.

 

Key Responsibilities

 

  • Recruitment –deploy an integrated recruitment strategy to source talent; screen candidates; oversee marketing and branding strategy, particularly for CDL drivers

     

  • HR Database – design, implement, administer, and utilize cloud-based HR database (aka HRIS/HRMS) that interfaces with existing payroll and workforce utilization systems.

     

  • Union/Employee Relations – capable of managing employee relations issues with a heavily unionized workforce at multiple locations throughout the Northeast.

     

  • Field Operations – develop systems to roll out HR initiatives to field operations. Ability to travel to company locations throughout Northeast (some overnight)

     

  • Compliance and Record Maintenance – ensure compliance with the law and collective bargaining agreements; oversee personnel record retention policies.

 

  • Benefits Administration –administration of benefit plans and 401(k)/profit sharing plan.

     

  • Training & Development –develop and roll out T&D programs

     

Requirements

  • Broad HR knowledge. Understanding of the applicable law and regulations, federal and state (NJ, NY, PA & CT emphasis). ·

     

  • Record of success administering benefit plans (especially medical and 401(k)) and leading recruitment initiatives).

 

  • Specialized knowledge implementing HR databases

     

  • Proficiency in MS Office,.

     

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Impeccable organizational skills with high attention to detail and sensitivity to costs.

     

  • High standards of confidentiality.

     

Additional Attributes

 

  • Preference for experience in the logistics, distribution or trucking industries and unionized workforces.

     

  • Advanced or continuing education in a relevant field; SPHR or other relevant degree.
