Summary:

The HR Assistant Manager will support the Kinedyne Human Resources function through excellence in quality recruiting, employee relations and implementation of corporate policies, programs and practices, administration of benefits, compensation and employee welfare programs, and payroll generation. They will focus on local human resources function with support on a corporate level when needed.

This role will provide leadership in the area of human resources either directly or through managers and supervisors to approximately 195 employees in accordance with the organizations policies and applicable laws. They will also accomplish staff results by communicating job expectations, planning, monitoring and appraising job results; coaching, counseling and disciplining employees.

Responsibilities:

  • Be the “open door” on employee relations issues; act as employee advocate while supporting company’s business objectives.
  • On-site liaison for Corporate HR Department for policy, legal and benefit issues.
  • Communicate, interpret and support personnel policy and benefit programs generated by Corporate HR Department.
  • Ensure legal compliance by monitoring and implementing applicable human resource federal and state requirements, conducting investigations, maintaining records.
  • Serve as consultant with managers and supervisors for all human resource issues.
  • Manage manpower plan (plan to budget) and ensure recruitment efforts are on track to plan.
  • Execute the local Affirmative Action Program as prepared by Corporate HR Department.
  • Maintains historical human resource records by designing a filing and retrieval system; keeping past and current records.  Must maintain confidentiality of information and records. All employment files must be kept current at all times.
  • Collection and processing of bi-weekly payroll data such as time worked, vacation time, sick/personal time, leaves of absences, pay changes, etc. and apply company policy to missed time.  Training support to Supervisors/Managers on Ultimate Software UTM Product.
  • Administer local Attendance Policy program and provide monthly report to HR Manager reflecting attendance trends.
  • Face to face employee orientation.
  • Administer Medical and Family Leave paperwork for local employees (advise supervisor, track return dates) forwarding proper documentation to Corporate HR for confirmation. 
  • Develop employee activities to support team building and employee appreciation.
  • Responsible for coordinating bi-monthly Employee Communication Meeting and presentation of HR News at these meetings.
  • Responsible for ensuring 5S standards are met within HR Department.
  • Must walk the Production Floor daily at least 30 minutes each day, ensuring all departments see an HR presence on the floor daily (including Building B).

Requirements

  • 5+ years of supervisory level experience in human resources within a manufacturing or industrial environment
  • Bachelor’s Degree required; SPHR, PHR, SHRM certification preferred (or willingness to acquire)
  • Outstanding leadership qualities and a positive attitude
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, with the ability to present publicly
  • Strong decision-making and policy creation skills
  • Strong mathematical and reporting skills – calculating turnover rates, temp ratios, etc.
  • Ultipro or similar payroll software experience
  • Proficient in MS Office Suite
